Squadron Sharepoint Sites

Hi All,

Do squadrons have their own sharepoint sites by default, or are they only made by certain wings?

If your sqn has its own sharepoint site, what do you use it for? Is it worthwhile?

TIA

We have one (and a unit teams).

The SP site contains links as a one stop shop for our go to documents/trackers and a unit calendar and stuff.

It’s not by default, we had to make it. Each team can have one it just needs creating. There’s a form on the Digital Hub to request a team.

I don’t want to share screenshots and stuff here unless asked so I don’t spend time redacting if they’re not useful, but PM me if you want me to and I’m happy to share some and redact them

Pretty sure if you have a SharePoint folder, that’s visible to the org. Some value, but wouldn’t want your private admin there.

But creating a Team also generates a SharePoint that isn’t visible outside the team members.

Thanks for the advice, might take you up on the PM later on when considering how to design the site.

Out of curiosity, are you able to add cadet accounts to teams, so, for example, Cadet NCOs could see the site and use it for resources. Weighing up if that would just be a hassle, as we may purpose the site like you seem to have, and don;t necesarily need Cadet NCOs seeing certain trackers.

We haven’t, I’m not sure if it is possible.

I think it might be, given cadets can be added to the main SharePoint sites though - ours is just set up to draw membership from the squadron team which cadets can’t be added to as they lack office licenses

Every formation within the RAFAC does have a private group Teams site by default. They were created over COVID (so sure if your Sqn has only stood up since COVID then maybe you don’t).

They are really useful for being a central place for storage of all risk assessments, training programs, any event documentation, etc etc.

Not sure about teams, but we’ve shared folders within our team’s documents with cadets through the SharePoint UI.
