Squadron Padre query

Our Squadron padre has recently left. We are now looking for a new padre.

Quick question - what is the difference between a Pastor and a Reverend. A local Methodist church to us has a number of Pastors who we have an existing relationship with who we’d like to engage - I assume a pastor is just a different term for a priest and therefore could be a squadron chaplain?

Anyone have any info?

Fairly sure we had what I think you might call a lay-preacher as a padre for a time.

Your Wing Bible Bod will know all the ins and outs.

Ours is a Pastor when he’s not our Padre

Yeah, technically you don’t need to be ordained to a Squadron Padre anyway, nor do you need to be a Christian.

The ACPs seem to be based around CofE and PI404 says they “are to be accredited church workers/ministers”

I think that the interpretation of “church” and “accredited” is being done in a flexible way. I know of at least one non-Christian padre and one Lay-Preacher.

I was on a unit which had a lay-preacher as a Padre

I am sure i heard that in Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing there is a Muslim padre
