What is the main concern regarding squadron loft use ? Why are these not allowed to be used at all?
Without loft storage some smaller squadrons have no access to any other storage on their squadron including no extra rooms to store anything. Taking away the loft storage and not allowing any access at all makes it very difficult.
Is there anything/any work that can be done which would then allow the loft to be used?
Is it possible for it to be used as storage is there anything that can be put in place to be used. We have a huge loft that is all completely floored and lighted etc .
Also, on the basos this is true, i was told in our Spooner Hut accommodation that there is asbestos in the loft so even if viable for storage given the asbestos no one was permitted to even open the hatch
You would need to get permission from your locak RFCA, where they will say no due to fire risk.
Secondly, i rather have them focus on fixing actual issues such as a Sqn in my wing where you can see the outside through the wall. And im not on about a window!
I doubt that the time / expense on boarding / lighting would have been carried out without the probable intend of using it as storage. As long as floor / joist loading is considered & storage of items is actioned to mitigate a fire risk (use large storage boxes with lids, etc), I don’t see why it should be a problem.
Is there safe access such as via a correctly installed loft ladder?
