Space - The Final Frontier

SpaceX are apparently launching a new logo…

AMbJ

Old article, but BBC are talking about space on Breakfast news this morning.

2026 is due to see humans reach their furthest distance away from Earth, and the preparatory missions ahead of manned moon landings taking place once again:

And August will see a solar eclipse, with totality taking place in Eastern Iceland & across Northern Spain - the UK will see 95% coverage.

Yeah, the whole thing collapsed  Not ideal!

(Thought I’d move space chat over to this thread!)

So then, who’s staying up to watch the Artemis launch?

I see Trump is already trying to use this as a positive spin for him, but remember to look out for that ESA logo right below NASA

It has been argued that it took someone like Trump, under the influence of Elon of course, to get the space programme out of the rutt it’s been in for decades now (routine ISS and other orbital stuff) and back to pushing the boundaries of space exploration.

Yep.

Staying up to watch it.

I’m not sure I’ve got it in me, especially being another hour ahead out here :sob:

I was considering coming home and napping for a few hours, but instead got distracted making a massive risotto :joy:

what time is it?

2320 BST. At least that’s when the window opens.

I wouldn’t launch with the window open

thats-funny

I had a BBC alert to say “NASA says there is a technical issue with the moon…”

I had to click that link… turn out the issue was with the “moon mission”… rather than the moon itself.

Sounds like it’s a go :ok_hand:

Good launch. Very impressive to watch. :rocket:

Not a Saturn V though

This is what humanity should be doing, instead of trying to kill each other
