How many snco can a squadron have and does the ACO prefer staff in uniform

Unlimited. But if your preferred Sqn is already packed with uniformed staff you may be ‘encouraged’ to go elsewhere. I say encouraged, as my wing ‘suggested’ I go to a Sqn that involved crossing the busiest road junction in my town at rush hour. I rejected this due to the journey & nothing more was said. My current Sqn has a 1:3 ratio of staff:cadets, my previous one was more like 1:6. And both had the same amount of uniformed staff.

The ACO? No. Your wing? Perhaps. But they cannot force you in to uniform if you don’t want. You may well get sick of answering questions of ‘officer or SNCO?’ though.
I may be guilty of pushing against regulations in my wing, but at the end of the day we are all volunteers, and you can say no to an unreasonable request.
