Do any of you have sister squadrons from different countries
Nope but when I was a cadet my sqn 308 Colchester Sqn had a parent RAF Sqn which was 100 Sqn we even adopted their Sqn crest on our ensign which was a skull and cross bones unfortunatly in the 2000’s it was changed as they were told it wasnt fit for the ACO BTW I am no longer on said Sqn!
In the summer i went to Australia to visit family and i was there for 4 weeks i visited nearest squadron to where i was staying and now my squadron and 207(Nambour) squadron AAFC are now sisters
A few years ago, we tried to set up a link with our similarly-numbered Sqn in Australia. We managed to make contact by e-mail and their staff were keen as well. However, as is often the case, staff then moved on (over there) and when we tried to make things formal through the RAAF Cadet HQ, the whole project ground to a halt!
The way to do is that if some cadets from your squadron and some cadets from their squadron visit
Um thats not a cheap way of doing things…
But if a cadet is visiting a city on holiday and you have made contact with a squadron in that city then they can visit them
My Squadron is linked with a Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, but I’ve not heard of much contact between them since their one visit to the UK several years ago
I’m unsure what benefit this link would have…
I have to agree at least with a link to an RAF Sqn you can have Sqn visits and with the case I said before 100Sqn flew Hawks and the best Cadet of the year got a back seat trip
Our parent squadron is based at Creech AFB so that make squadron visits impractical
I take it thats 39 Sqn? why you would want a parent Sqn thats based in the States I dont know unless you get a trip to Vegas

because they fly reapers
What benefit do you get as an ATC Sqn from them flying Reapers?
No idea but in WW2 they flew bombing missions and recently they used to fly Canberra bombers
You need to be very careful of simple ‘driveby visits’, in the UK and I suspect even more so overseas. I was advised by my Wg HQ some time ago that unless a cadet is on ‘duty’, ie they are a member of a particular Sqn and they are at their normal Sqn parade location (their normal place of duty so to speak), or they are on properly authorised activities, they may not be insured. Simply being a cadet doesn’t count apparently as their visit to another Sqn has not been approved as an activity. Of course, you can get it approved by both Sqn Cdrs agreeing.
I had a spate of ‘mates from other Sqns’ visiting a few years ago which triggered my enquiry with Wg. A simple e-mail or phone call should suffice, and that may be difficult with overseas Units.
As always my comments above reflect my experiences and advice given to me; they may not be Corps policy, as I’m sure we will soon find out!!

I have heard the same in fact it gets a bit annoying when cadets from other Sqn just turn up as it can disract cadets from what they are doing
