Silver cyber requirements

Hiya,

Does anyone know the silver idea courses we have to complete and what open university course we have to complete?

Does I also need any information from staff for signing up to open university? Similarly to how I had to enter an organiser code for IDEA?

And when it is completed what will I need to do?

Thank you for any help!

It is all in ACTO 071 if you can get your Sqn staff to look. There should be How To guides on Cadet Portal too.

If you can’t find the info post back and I’ll answer properly after work.

Have you completed your Bronze Cyber? You will have to have done the Bronze iDEA for that, so the fact that you don’t know where to find it would suggest you haven’t completed Bronze Cyber yet - which is a pre-requisite for Silver.

Open University course:

iDEA:

As @Anton says you need to do Bronze Cyber including Bronze iDEA first (or CyberFirst and Bronze iDEA.

There was an older version of the syllabus that didn’t start iDEA until Silver but that wss before lock down.

Your Sqn will need to look up the iDEA code in Acto 071 or get it from your Wing radio or cyber officer, or check the iDEA How To guides.

Yes I have completed bronze! I was relating to the sections I would have to complete in IDEA as for bronze it was specific ones. I do apologise if it was unclear!

Any modules are accepted for Silver. Use the same log in as for Bronze and it will carry your Wing ID across.

On completion send your certificates to your Sqn training officer. You need the iDEA Silver certificate and the OU certificate including the exam scores (which must be 67% or higher).

These will need to go to the Region Radio & Cyber Officer, unless they have delegated it down to Wing. They will then add the qualifications to your record.

It also really helps to send the evidence as a pdf, not as a screen shot or photo of the certificates. Makes the onward processing easier.

Obviously the syllabus is being redone too. Details here: Sign in to your account

Looks like it’s going to be a much better syllabus (especially at Silver) compared to what we have at present. I don’t think anyone is expecting it to release before mid/late 2025 though, so up to you if you’re prepared to wait.

I’d recommend pressing on with the current courses if possible.

From what’s been released so far the existing Silver will complement rather than duplicate the new plans.
