I don’t think it’s fair to say Cadets ‘should’ wear stable belts, since that implies an element of compulsion and it’s not OK to order someone to wear an optional item of dress.
However, dress regs state that Cadets may wear stable belts if they wish.
On certain occasions, desire for a ‘uniform appearence’ may trump this.
Boom. Thread over.

I made a similar point on pg1 of this thread…5 pages later
I think we all knew the answer, but wasn’t it fun having 5 pages of random stable belt related banter?
Hear, hear.
Imagine if all we did here was that type of “Question - Answer - Closed” discussion. It’d be boring as hell.
Having enjoyed said banter and thoroughly livened up an otherwise dull and tedious thread, I think it’s safe to say I’m not among those who seem to be doing their best to avoid being suspected of having a sense of humour.
No, I agree. It was ok once it got off topic lol.
For the record, I wasn’t having a pop with my last post. I was just amused at how threads have a habit of going in circles.
just to go back a bit and throw a spanner in the works ref army stable belts. The old metal/leather buckle debate. Some units (reme, rlc, ramc, rsigs for example) OR wear a metal buckle but WO1/Off wear a leather buckle.
Also a bit of a legacy from 5th airbourne but some units put a 16th AAB buckle onto their stable regardless of the original buckle. Also certain individual regiments have a completely different stable belt (colour/buckle) to the rest of their corps (18 sigs, 16 RAMC for example)
