Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows how I go about getting myself onto RIAT Camp next year. My squadron has never attended and we aren’t sure where to start.
Many thanks!:)![]()

Watch out for the calling notice for cadet and staff volunteers. Normally, this won’t be out until the spring some time.
You will need to be 16 years old at the start of the camp.
based on the timings for 2025, if these are match in 2026 then
Calling notice will be written in Jan and shared soon after (ie Jan/Feb)
Deadline for CFAVs wishing to apply for “Specialist” roles - end of Feb
Allocation of those CFAV roles end of March
Cadet and Staff selection and “data collection” by early April
Joining Instructions released early May
TG forms submitted early May
deadline for payments early July
while those were the published dates, not all of those were kept to but gives you an idea.
in terms of “getting your on to the Camp” i would raise this with your Staff in Jan/Feb. they can then ask around/keep and eye out from the Wing POC on the process for applying.
you will then need to follow that application process and keep your fingers crossed you get a place. As you might expect, there is more interest than places every year, often double the applications for the number of places available.
so on that basis, if your name is down you have a 50-50 chance. that said, most of all of our Wing reserves were called up this year mainly as some of those who were selected then pulled out - so in our Wing, a large number of those applying were “selected” but not all made it due to other reasons.
It appears to have just come out today!
@JoeBloggs would you be able to share it with me if possible?
It’s on the sharepoint announcements page. If you’re a cadet and can’t see it, speak to your Sqn staff ![]()
Ah okay. Thanks for your help.
Should note re: CFAV specialist roles - application is seemingly open till COP next week from the calling notice, so anyone looking to get in on that may want to do it sharpish! (I’ve put myself down for the role I’ve requested…er, twice prior, hoping this year I have a little more behind me to warrant getting the role!)
Something to keep an eye out for as well is a talk usually hosted by one of the Admin team and the Comms OIC on Teams - it’s a great starting point for if you’re not sure what the camp entails and what you may do, and then you’re always welcome to pass on questions after to your OC on Sqn for them to feed back to your Wing/Region POC. Plus, wouldn’t be surprised if many staff over here have done the camp before once or twice…myself included!
