Requirements to sleep out at squadron

You mean this:

Except you are right, this specifically does not apply to us. A quick search of Sharepoint says:

This is potentially in breach of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Articles 8, 9 and 11

Having just read Orders 8, 9 & 11I don’t really see how sleeping in non-accommodation with a suitable risk assessment would be in breach of them (especially if there is a proper fire alarm with smoke detectors etc).

It’s been a few years since I last asked about exactly this…

From memory…

Make sure there are no pre-existing restrictions - such as Sqn is within a shared use building - or, is not normally available (pretty obvious)

Building must have a maintained fire alarm; with detectors and sounders in all public areas.

You will almost certainly need to provide segregated sleeping areas:

Cadet under 18 male / female
Cadet over 18 male / female
Staff male / female

Fire warden / over night supervising staff - at least 1 male and 1 female

Then also ensure you have sufficient staff cover per normal ratios.

Sufficient access to toilets… and ease of access to toilets from each sleeping area…
