@tmmorris can you confirm?

In all seriousness, it seems these new designs are out there now. I’ve asked for the state of play.

A uniform program update is due out this week, will look to include

Yes, my understanding is we changed to the ATC version of first class, leading, senior, and added MAC, a few years back. Maybe under Dawn, maybe Tony. Part of de-aligning us with the Army, and aligning us with the ATC. Along with changing the shooting badges, etc. We used to match the Army as closely as possible but that is no longer the strategic direction. (Carefully not commenting on whether this was the right strategy!)

Yet we have kept LCpl…

That’s what I thought. Probably just an old version of the CCF RAF regs and an error in the ACTO

Can confirm also that my CCF Cadets do 1st Class thru Master Cadet.

Is it better this way?

I’ve never been on a CCF contingent, but my initial thought would be that the more the contingent do the same thing (for general delivery) the easier it’d be to run.

Considering they get less time in a year for parading, I’d have thought a more streamlined syllabus that they can all do together, bar a few bespoke themed bits might be more efficient.

I’d love to visit a CCF and learn more about how it all works.

The way we do it is, over the winter months when there is very limited we can do, we bang out classifications in school terms 2 and 3. We only have 12ish weeks of classification, and the other 4 terms are almost exclusively spent in the school grounds doing fieldcraft, drill, camp craft, leadership, first aid exercises etc, as well as a good helping of external trips and the occasional research project.

We run 1515-1700 in winter and 1515-1800 in summer. Gives us plenty of time.

Would be happy to discuss at length! My Cadet experience was as a CCF RAF Cadet, my CFAV experience as CCF (Army). I have been a training officer for both sides. (Although geographically a visit may be difficult).

BLUF: 15 years ago, it was very easy for multiple sections to take part in ‘tri-service’ training that met the requirements of the sService.

This seems to have been made much more difficult with the modern and current syllabus, as certain subjects, although common across the services, are hyper specific to the service, plus the requirements for the instructor can be wildly different.
(E.g. CCF/ACF CFAV only require FAAW to teach SJA Youth First Aid)

Hard to say - perhaps?

We align them to year and do the Classification in the cold/dark/wet months.

Year 9: 1st Class
Year 10: Leading
Year 11: Senior (Also do MOI here)
Year 12 & 13: Master Cadet, whilst using their MOI to teach Year 9 thru 11.

We parade 4 - 6 on Fridays, school won’t allow it earlier as it clashes with classes.

You would be more than welcome to swing by sometime if you find yourself in B&G.

I was under the impression that delivery of this training was constrained by SJA rather than a RAFAC trainset

One would have thought so.
I was on an update call where we were informed that we may be moving away from the SJA qualification.

As it stands:
