Recruiting Staff

Few days…

I’m not sure how an organisation can expect to recruit and more importantly retain people when the process is longwinded and convoluted.

The process makes applicants jump through hoops and wait for extended periods of time. The system in place makes no sense and is wasting the time of applicants. this then deters them from staying and we are back to square one again.

Plus the volunteer has to take a day off so the paid staff don’t have to 'work different patterns. Maybe delegate dbs/bpss to WSO.

Thought that was already an option :man_shrugging:t2:

It is.

Unit OCs can do DBS, technically anyone with SC is able to become authorised to do BPSS checks.

I’ve asked the same as to the approval of such - it makes sense for all OCs to validate BPSS just the same as DBS (which apparently is going electronic soon as per Civcom process).

Best approach is to have Applicant, OC and WSC in the same space, and effect 4-01 plus upload (specifying “4-01” on applicants SMS file section upload) and then have applicant log into their Volunteer portal to complete all other requirements.

Once complete - they can then submit to their OC (who see’s the application via their workflow on their “PERSONAL” RAFAC account) the OC then approves and it flows to Wing for the push to RAFAC HQ (as I understand it) @Ben_Wakefield

Sounds along the right lines for the Join process from memory.

There are places that run specific sessions for WSC/WSO report and BPSS checking for batches of new joiners.

Seems suitable - specific sessions at Sector level for new joiners - initial progression (post Wing DBS post out) lies with OC + WSC.

Application can’t be submitted until BPSS & DBS is recorded on SMS

Not in our wing :frowning:

Down here all DBS ID checks are done by squadron OCs, then the form is sent directly to DBS Cheadle Hulme.

BPSSs are done by your sector commander. Or you can go to WHQ.

Again, a single all inclusive organisation with 6 Regional and 34 Wing variants on how processes are controlled and ran :man_facepalming:t2:

A fish rots from its head.

How much quicker could things be if OCs could just do the document checks rather than fannying around like we do. If we get it wrong or miss something it’ll come back for corrections. It’s not the end of the world.
