Rank transfer CCF to ATC (Excluding L/Cpl)

Wjat happens to cadets that have radio badges or band badges that have been obtained in either the ATC or CCF RAF. Since they are not promotions, can they carry over.

If they’ve been awarded correctly then yes.

Also what happens on the modern day if a cadet NCO from a neighbouring unit visits to lead an activity.

It happens back when I was in and the cadet NCO’s rank wasn’t called into question at all, the entire night.

Why should it be? If they are there in a leadership position as an external instructor why should their authority be questioned? As a temporary visitor there is no impact to the structure, scale, or dynamic of the resident NCO team.

Agreed, never had a problem with collaborative activities - ranks were respected in both directions.

Just to revive this, I’ve had a CCF Sgt Transfer over to the ATC. All that has come over from Westminster is his his date of birth. Anyone else had this?

Many CCFs will enter the absolute minimum data they can get away with in Westminster, and only put in more data if needed for e.g. a camp or course.

As CCF(RAF) units will be juggling a school MIS (e.g. Schoolbase, ISAMS), BADER SMS, and WESTMINSTER, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that they are a bit reluctant to do triple data entry. However, the much promised data API for transferring cadet information from WESTMINSTER to BADER is getting close to being useful at last (about 10-15 years after it was first promised).

From what I’ve heard Westminster is a better system, so bring it on.

The DAIB would disagree with that statement, and considers our system the better one.

Didn’t CAC say that they were looking at rolling Bader out to the other cadet forces, as Westminster doesn’t have email or Teams?

It wouldn’t surprise me. The report I read criticised Westminster heavily for the way it does event authorisations, and the lack of transparency with it.

good to know, if bader is a better system then so be it, still haven’t got any information though.

To quote the report:

Bader demonstrated useability features that are not present in the Westminster system. For the ability to partially automate the required personnel checks, manage medical information, and conduct planning, authorisation and audit activity within a user-friendly interface, the panel opined that the use of the Bader Squadron Management System to be best practice.

It’s completely unrelated to this thread, but it’s worth a read:

Non-statutory inquiry Cadet mountain bike accident

Loads of recommendations and observations.

This might almost want it’s own thread :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought we were phasing out SMS and migrating functions over to VP and other portals (without awful double-logins and time-outs).

When the times comes, it’ll be more of a name change, I guess. SMS is already very well linked. I think everyone already uses a single data set now? But it will be a permissions change, moving from role login to personal login. It’ll be for the better!

SMS will still form the back end that feeds everything else, we just won’t access it directly.

A single cadet MIS was one of the recommendations of DYER 2010…

As a user, I find WESTMINSTER easier. But maybe I’ve just used it more - I used to be a CCF Contingent Commander.

I’m confident that isn’t true. Westminster is still under constant and significant development. Also, we have email. Teams might be useful though.

Odd, as you can do all that in Westminster.

This has been tried multiple times & rebuffed by the other cadet forces. This is probably the last roll of the dice to push for bader ahead of cadet expansion 30:30

Otherwise there will likely be a mandate of the ATC adopting Westminster.
