What’s the bader email address of the OC?
Not a precedent I know as CCF sections use a differ t designation but starter for ten.

.1os
And there’s a .1osdf
Matches the RAF use of the Sqn No….
naughty naughty
I thought we established that copying the RAF is not cool
We’ve been told it’s not allowed, not that it’s not cool.
I thought that was what I recalled.
It’s the same for many units as using the RAF sqn’s badge centrepiece etc
I’ll tell you what….I’ll ask the steer from the gods.
It may end up biting people in the bum though who have gone rouge and just done their own thing.
But I’ll ask for a steer at least.
That’s the sort of evidence I like!
Thanks very much.
when the first overseas squadron gets a unit badge, I need to think how all that is supposed to fit in the circlet…
But how are the other overseas unit named, just because the first one comes in like that, doesn’t mean it’s correct.
We had squadron crests done the way have been for decades, now we are having to change everything.
It’s certainly true that my unit also had a different name at one point, but that was formally changed with another one of those documents.
If you’re referencing a unit badge as proof of a different format, I hate to break it to you but you’re not using a recognised source as evidence because your unauthorised badge hasn’t gone through the correct channels.
Thread drift…
I disagree, but may be wrong. Your case would be “1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Sqn ATC”. Surely then it would be “2 Overseas (Gibraltar) Sqn ATC”.
Called it being this way around!
So, it should be 7OS on the brassard then: like founder sqns?
Although, a space might help (7 OS) to avoid confusion with 705.
It’s neither Cool or allowed
Does anyone have a full list of the overseas units to hand?
I’m trying to work out how many characters we need for each.
There’s nothing worse than establishing a layout and then realising there’s an overseas unit called: “1234 Overseas (Hiding in the ■■■■ end of nowhere just to make a really long name) Squadron” and now you don’t have enough characters without changing the format half way through… ![]()

That’s the name of a unit in the Higlands if I believe, although its a DF of 1234 (100 Miles and 70 munros away from the DF) Sqn ATC

If you wish to future proof I would use the current UK overseas territories as your starter for 10.
I appreciate that the Pitcairn Islands maybe unlikely to gain one but some of the others maybe more likely
Is there one in the falklands Islands (or due to size does that have to work like a CCF?)
201 Gurnsey Is the Longest I can think of,
I’m surprised 440 (Manx) isn’t an OS Sqn.
The DF in the North of The republic of Cyprus may cause an issue, but only if it makes it to Sqn
Does anyone know of any units in Germany, or where they shut when we withdrew most of our forces?
“Overseas (Akrotiri) Squadron”
“Overseas (Gibraltar) Squadron”
“(Hawker Blackburn) Squadron”
So it’s very tight. My unit name needed cramming in!
Might struggle if it needed to be “123 OS” in the indent. Shame they couldn’t have stuck with single digits!
