It’s primary purpose is to share flying consent & WHT at an activity, offline options are available.
I’ve never been anywhere where I had to show my 3822 or the cadets did.
U18s get escorted passes without ID, that’s the MOD policy based on what we have been told.
I got an escorted pass to visit HMS Prince of Wales without visiting the pass office as the visit sponsor got one with my name on in advance & for the cadets, there was no Photo ID involved at all.
Those complaining, I think we are making a mountain out of a molehill or complaining for the sake of it…
The flying permissions are printed off and handed in - we aren’t going to be taking phones off cadets and handing them into AEF staff on arrival, are we?
It could but I’ve never had anyone try to fake it. We have controls in place - checks on quals on SMS etc - but I’d like to think 99% of our members have the integrity not to try it on
Assumes the civ com can raise such funds plus that means said funds are not spent on other things the Squadron needs or would like for the cadet experience. Then there is the question of through life costs and replacements due to obsolescence and damage.
Odd thing is that some stations like Lossie won’t even accept new digital ID as a form of ID due to the op nature of the station and they have to use the station bespoke IDs and wear them when on the station …
For 0.22 an easy flick to page 3…easier than finding the page to record WHTs.
When i WHT on the L98A2 during the strip and rebuild i flick through their book always interesting to see how other units operate on other activities in what is recorded
I spoke to my staff last night about the day. ID was not required on arrival but 6 AEF wanted proof that parent had signed for them to be able to fly and this is in the app. Or, if allowed, staff memeber could login to SMS whilst there but that is a lot of messing around.
The only fail safe for this is to either take hardcopy 3822a with you or an electronic version you can show. 6 AEF don’t have access to the bader records to see for themselves.
So the consent to fly is confirmed by the AV med form. However when I went to aaaeF recently what the wanted was the next of kin details ready & accessible in case the aircraft crashed.
TG21, 3822 & 3822a were all acceptable. It because next of kin is not listed on the AV Ned form.
