I remember having to tell off a certain ex WWO for wearing one on a activity weekend (granted via a Sgt RAFAC)

He wore one once and the next monthly WE we had about 10 cutting about, made it very hard to enforce dress.

“Why are you wearing that, it’s not in regs?”
“But WO BXXXXXX is wearing one”

I assume you’ve referred him to para. 8.5?

I know the RAF usually wear EAG patches, but are sqn patches a new thing/allowed?

Also, is this an Army captain with desert DPM rank slides with Navy wings flying an F35?

I’d have thought Royal Marines. The Army doesn’t have fast jet pilots.

I first saw these over ten years ago. Flying sqns (and former Battle of Britain RAuxAF sqns) seem to have them, based on the same designs as aircraft liveries (on Tornado, these designs appeared either side of the roundel on the side of the fuselage).

Ahhh, good point, completely forgot about that possibility.

He doesn’t look like he’s flying to me. Rather he is standing on the pan and pointing at something.

There was an Royal Marines officer flying F/A-18’s with the US Navy some years back…

I like the idea of army rank slides, navy wings and desert DPM but as others have said he’s a Royal and so has Army ranks!

Is this the same chap? If so, it looks like he’s a lt RN rather than capt Army/RM.

No, don’t believe so.

FAA Wings so as others have said hes a leatherneck

Actually really nice to wear, well insulated. Only thing is there isn’t a rank slide but I can get that tailored on, and you get people saying the hood needs to be rolled when it can’t once you undo it

Am I right in reading the minutes of the 23rd Feb meeting are saying that CFAV should immediately switch to following the RAF untucked rules?

Or are we still waiting for an ACP1358 release for that? The wording used is a little confusing.

Wait for now.

There will be an updated ACP1358 imminentlyish that will contain the direction going forward but the minutes do indicate the direction we are going.

Cadets is trickier given how the lightweight field jackets aren’t made in children sizes.

Potential to look like a dress depending on the size and fit?

From what I can see the barrack shirt now goes down to 150cm but the lightweight jacket starts at 160, but you’ve no doubt better intel than I have!

IIRC there was a (semi) official smaller range made by Helikon and sold via Ammo & Co but I don’t know if they still make it.

What if we decide to continue wearing it tucked in?

Was in an RAF mess this week, and most were still wearing it tucked in….
