Leaving the forum due to the idiotic and childish attitude of people who don’t like to be criticised.
I used to like this place but now it has deteriorated because some people think they know more than those who actually do.
It’s pathetic.
I’m sure they’re glad I’m going. I have managed to talk to two other members of C&E Yorks Wing who were thinking of joining who have temporarily joined under another name and they feel the same.
Many of you need to grow up a bit and realise that paranoia is not the norm. It’s weird!!
You know what annoys me… The very attitude you knock is displayed by you in many of your posts.
This is a discussion board - people discuss things. I don’t think anyone here has a monopoly on being right.
If you have to go then so be it, but sometimes to see a bit of humility in others you have to display it yourself.
We shall miss you :crying:
What was that!

seconded.
of the selection of ex-regulars on here (and those i meet in person) you’re one i dont have to consider your posts with a pinch of salt. you come with the right attitude yet dont hide your past…others (and those i suspect who have created your feelings) put their past/current regular service as the priority and authority forgetting of course we’re the ACO and although very similar to the RAF, in some very significant ways absolutely opposite.
Edit my post was supposed to follow the Plt Off!!

I think… And I may be mistaken, but Plt Off Prune may, (and I put it out there merely for the sake of argument), just may, have been being sarcastic?
Stick it out.
I feel we are all missing key points. But I can kinda see where your coming from.
I did try and send you a PM. We need instructors like you to help keep the ACO grounded.
I hope you change your mind. I am a long time lurker and it seems you often offer a decent voice of reason and common sense.
Will be sad to see you go.

keep the ACO grounded?
given your outspoken attitude i would say more likely keep the regular/ex-regular cadre grounded!
You will be missed, I may not agree with you all the time but you normally justify your opinions well and provide a balance argument.
I hope you re-consider.
I’ve only been a member of the forum for two days but I have spent the last week reading through a lot of the Topics (absolutely invaluable for an ex-regular (Army), with no ATC experience, about to become a CI). I have found the debates to be robust, but most posters seem to be well meaning.
In relation to the OP, I will also be sorry to see Racing Stick go as I have found his posts to be very interesting, plus he was kind enough to welcome me to the forum in my introduction post.
Colleagues.
I think we may all be missing the point here. Racing Stick has decided that this forum is no longer for him and the unfortunate thing is that he has chosen to go because of what he perceives as people’s negative attitudes towards a certain group of CFAVs.
This forum is a great place to discuss matters, seek advice and gather opinions on topics of the day, and because of this, it can and I believe should, be ‘confrontational’. The World would be very boring if we all thought the same and it does the Organisation as a whole a great deal of good if its members have diverse opinions which they are not averse to voicing. However, some hide behind the anonymity of their forum names, and denigrate comments and suggestions which have probably been made with the best of intent. Of course, there is every likelihood that we have our share of idiots on this forum and those who would wish to make mischief, but none of us have any right to belittle anyone on a forum such as this.
We all have a part to play in the development and fulfilment of the men and women who choose to be in the ACO; and by that I mean cadets AND adults alike. In the adult cadre, ex Regulars bring their military experience and ethos, those appointed directly from cadet service tend to bring youth, enthusiasm and a keen understanding of what the coal-face needs; our staff entrants with no experience of the Forces or cadets at all bring a refreshing outlook that many of us can be too blinkered to notice. We are all part of this outstanding organisation. None of us have a right to say we are better than anyone else at delivering the cadet experience and all of us bring something from which the organisation can benefit.
Speaking as one of the three in that SSIC thread which appears to be the straw that broke the guardsman’s hat. I think he’s being a bit hypocritical in his last post.
The issue on tha thread started off fairly innocuously, Racing Stick voiced an opinion, Plt Off Prune challenged it. He then refused to explain his reasoning,

Careful, I know for a fact that FS Moss reads this. It won’t take him long to work out who you are…
Plt Off Prune wote:
And?
This isn’t Russia you know. (yet).
Racing Stick wrote:
And?..What do you mean, And?
Isn’t it pretty obvious why?
Plt Off Prune wrote:
No, sorry. What?
Racing Stick wrote:
Unbelievable! [/quote]
When I then asked him to explain his stance, (as I didn’t think Plt Off Prune was being deliberately obtuse on this occasion.) He wouldn’t answer the question, started to obliquely have a dig at the ATF stance. When asked again to explain , he threw out some personal comments and threw his toys out of the pram.
I don’t see how this isn’t an example of “an idiotic and childish attitude of people who don’t like to be criticised.” The very thing he denigrates in his first post, in effect, he seems to have left because he couldn’t take what he was dishing out.
However, to be fair he usually did, as most of you point out, back his opinions up with something, and he was always good banter. So in that regard it will be sad to no longer have him in the debate.
I wrote a lovely post, and then my session expired
To summarise:
No one has the right to not be offended. However, those that go out of their way to annoy people on here or to provoke others should expect ban points, as it’s trolling and against the AUP.
This is a surprise, especially as RS was quite grounded in the majority of his posts. As a member of C&E Yorks Wing, I must admit I don’t know which of my colleagues is RS, he certainly doesn’t push his ex military life in everyone’s faces. Either that, or I haven’t bumped into him at Wing events yet…
My understanding is that RS had moved from C+E to HIOW just before joining this forum, however I am also unable to identify him within the wing.
Personally I think it is a childish reaction which seems to have come off the back of the ATF thread - which went against not sharing dates & locations of courses, the point that PO Prune was making IMO. RS’ issue with ATF draws back to the DI course from what I can gauge from his other posts and has already been heavily discussed on this forum, and is not what this thread is for.
This forum is an excellent resource and idea sharing ground, it has it’s characters as should be expected, the fact that we have individuals that get passionate about certain subjects is excellent for both the forum and organisation as a whole.
The quality of the forum has not lowered, as I still find a high amount of info from here before I do from the official CoC, if at all as it tends to get stuck. It also provides a discussion point for key issues, and is now being used as a POC for HQAC with both Barber & ACO CTT engaging the forum on certain topics, which is highly reassuring given previous witch-hunts.
I love attention seekers who flounce out of forums. Why all the look at me shiz? Just stop posting.
Totally agree.

Opinions are like BOTTOMS, everyone’s got one and everyone is entitled to their own
Oh and RS is in our wing
Actually everyone is entitled to my opinion…
