I was on QAIC 4, really enjoyed it and hope it made me a better instructor! I know my CO at the time was getting me to teach a hell of a lot more.

Out of interest, why in all the pictures I’ve seen do the students wear Flying Suits/Coveralls?

I’ve often wondered that too. I’m told it’s because ā€œthat’s what aircrew doā€. :?

Without wanting to turn this into any sort of Q-bashing thread, I’m afraid that I can’t see any reason whatsoever for the wearing of flight suits during classroom based theory lessons.

Lifted directly from the course website :

ā€˜To establish a strong course identity, all students are issued with course badges, T-shirts and name badges and all wear flying suits throughout the course. In common with RAF Sqns the students adopt ā€œcallsignsā€ or nicknames that stay with them through the course and are shown on their flying suit name badges.’

Thanks.

wdimagineer2b totally agreed! I never wear mine on sqn, I’d feel like a complete tool!

Oh for …goodness sake! They aren’t flying therefore have no need for grow bags - which chod came up with this idea?? Its as bad as or even worse than aircrew that visit my organisation wearing grow bags but drive there…

It’d be like taking my pace stick with me onto the range; or wearing coveralls all the time because I’ve got quals in engineering.

I’m just going to sit here and quietly reminisce to myself about all the old JL bashing threads about ā€œspecial treatment.ā€ No link to this of course.

I thought the RAF was trying to get proper aircrew to stop wearing their growbags every waking hour.

They are, but some thrusters seem to be stitched into their grow bag…
