Wrong SMS, better phrasing that we are all familiar with would of been Safe System of Training.
Bader SMS is indeed Sqn Management System

While I agree, it’s bit of a shame that the AC71966 Lessons weren’t ported over into our document to present a single cohesive policy. Instead you now need 3 documents, Vol 1, Vol 2 and AC71966.
Having said that, I can understand not wanting to port it over if we’re leaving ownership of the actual training material with the army.
Ah, okay, that might want to be made clearer then at this bit here:
It says SMS as an acronym, then refers to that below. It seems silly even putting “Safety Management System (SMS)” there if every other time in the document it says SMS, it is in fact referring to Squadron Management System.
It made me think I had been wrong all this time with what SMS means
I actually disagree with you here. I think referring over is better. It stops duplication of information. It means there is one set of rules, and if that set of rules changes, we don’t need to update our policy, in theory.
That was just my interpretation, and I agree it should be clearer.
Absolutely, I get that and that’s why I can understand why we haven’t ported the lessons over, except I fully expect we’ll end up stuck using the 2021 version when the ACF update AC71966 just as we were stuck using the 2013 version previously.
But, the only think ACP 16 is is policy, the training material is AC71966.
Yeah, everything is placed out before the IBN should go out on Friday.
Links in the Military Skills chat as well if people want to have a look at the portal.
I see from the FAQ doc that existing FCIs automatically become FTI (R) but can be FTI based on recent experience. But it doesn’t state how. Anyone know?
Is FTI (R) available to cadets? Im assuming FTI wouldn’t be but not sure about restricted.
Both are but can only instruct without the rifle.
Will be in the IBN.
Having a look through the new ACPs, I’ve got to say that the formatting is poor and inconsistent. Makes it difficult to read.
In what way? Provide feedback and we can review it.
Once I get back to a computer I will
I’ve had the time to look through the new material and it does look really good. There’s some confusing bits, but that’s inevitable with new policies and new material. I’m sure these will be ironed out and I’ll submit some feedback about that.
Looking forward to delivering the Blue and hopefully Bronze training over the next few months.
Does anyone know what is awarded to cadets on achievement of the quals?
I can see that the Quals have been added to SMS. However, what can we give the cadet? I can’t see a certificate on Sharepoint and the previous badge discussion seems to suggest that there will not be a badge, even for MTP.
No badges in the current climate. Certificate could be an easy one, fill out a mil-skills change request to have one added and we’ll look at it as part of the review.
Also had a suggestion via DM for a Cadet guide that is a simple one pager so they understand what they need to do to attain the various levels. I like the idea of that so will look to get that added.
A what now?
Excellent idea
It would be good to have some briefings for staff too, I went to one when this was all at the start and it was useful. But maybe run something to get non Fieldcrafty types up to speed too?
There are briefings for fieldcraft officers (RHQ and WHQ) Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
The idea being they can then act as a focal point for people in their AOR for questions and further briefings.
I’d still like to see a more general brief open to all. It could also be used to get people interested in fieldcraft or at least understand why we do it.
