There wont be a badge. It was thought about.
They shouldn’t be… and have been told as much.
If you were good enough to earn one, no one would see it anyway.
I’ve certainly seen photos as recently as this week on Instagram of cadets wearing it! The rifle with a blue stripe I think?
Yeah, there was one posted. Sparked some more discussion.
Whilst there is no plan to have official badges, badges are for cadets so we should probably ask the cadets at some point. If it’s important to them and enhances their overall experience as a cadet, we should consider it.
Cadets are certainly keen for badges from what I can gather! Many staff seem to be hard out against the idea, but I don’t see it as a bad idea at all. There’s a PTS badge for most other things, so a FC PTS badge that goes on No 3s does make a lot of sense.
I think there’s already too much on the brassard, so again, No3s make more sense for this.
Agreed that it’s the desire of the cadet, not CFAV, that matters most here. Not with everything … but I think this is one where their voice should be loudest.
Do a TRF!
(All joking aside, a badge that shows levels of Fieldcraft competency at a glance would be really useful when delivering instruction, as you could easily tell which cadets ‘should’ have the necessary training to act as demonstrators.)
You mean one bird for blue, 2 for bronze etc
Actually a variation on the JL flash with different colours could work. As long as it is fully subdued and IRR treated of course.
We had a subdued recognition flash. Let’s not go backwards again.
A diagonal split square with a shared colour one half and the proficiency level the other half would work well.
That’s what I had in mind too.
Fixed that for you
Is there any update on this?
It’s still coming, still on target to be out before the end of April.
Whats caused the delay?
We had such a good comms plan for March.
Last i hear, was it was going through final review.
That is good to know, for all practical purposes fieldcraft in my wing is paused until the new policy is out.
See I’d have thought that everything would have been approved prior to telling the world and his dog about it on SM
There is no ‘delay’ the comms plan said some point in April.
It is going through final reviews and the IBN has been approved.
The volunteer leading this has a very busy personal life around all of this as well so is doing their best.
