PT Course query

It was recently mentioned at my SQN that there isn’t anyone qualified to teach PT.

My query is are their any PT courses one could go on provided by the RAFAC to get a PT qual in order to provide more PT sessions to cadets?

b. At sqn level, the following qualification requirements are to be followed:
Cadets who have successfully completed a Sports Leaders Award Course (SLA) may, under supervision, run physical activity commensurate with their knowledge, skill and experience.

c. Adult staff may conduct minor/informal sports activities which are within their competence and having conducted a satisfactory Risk Assessment (RA). They may also supervise basic physical training activities which do not involve the use of equipment or exercises which involve physical contact. Guidelines on conducting a comprehensive RA for these minor/informal sporting activities are at ACPEDTI No 11 paras 1-3 to this ACP.

Point c would suggest that no formal qualifications are required to run “informal sports” as long as they are competent at the sport(s) in question and have risk assessed it.

Sports Leaders Award Delivery in the RAF Air Cadets

6. The aim is to deliver all levels of SL awards to cadets and to build on their knowledge and experience as they progress through the varying levels.

7. Each region has been set up as a Course Centre for the delivery of the SL level 1-3/SCQF 4-6 only. They are the single point of contact between Sports Leaders and the RAFAC Sports delivery teams for each region and wing.

8. Annual billing for SL level 1-3/SCQF 4-6 awards will be through RAF AC HQ Physical Education department.

9. SL level 1/SQCF 4 delivery will be through wings.

10. SL level 2/SCQF 5 delivery will be through regions.

11. SL level 3/SCQF 6 delivery will be RAF AC HQ supporting local regional delivery teams.

So in theory you should be able to contact your wing and/or region sports officer and express interest in attending a Sports Leader Level 1 or 2 course.

Are we not banned from PT style sports right now because there’s no safe qual? Thought there was an IBN…

I’m pretty sure the ban doesn’t include sports: just military style PT sessions, circuits, etc.
