Promotion to corporal guidance

hi im a cadet that is trying to get corporal,

does anyone have any idea or tips in how to rank up

I would suggest you use the search function for key words like ā€œpromotionā€ and you’ll find a dozen or more threads that are useful - like this one

but in short, my advice is
*look the part of a Cpl
*act the part of a Cpl
*do the part of a Cpl

look - have uniform which is a good as the Cpls on unit
act - be a team player, show you can follow instructions given and help those who are struggling
do - get involved with everything, an ideal NCO is someone with broad experience, not just someone who scores 10/10 on uniform and has 100% parade night attendance - take advantage of the weekend/off Sqn opportunities to show you are interested - these are also the places where when out of the ā€œroutineā€ of a parade night your skills as a Cpl/leader/team player can be demonstrated and thus spotted

Also, don’t be afraid to ask your NCOs or staff for feedback as it’ll show that you’re interested and should give you more specific things to work on that align with what they’re looking for.

You set the title of this thread to ā€˜new cadets’ - how long have you been in cadets for?

Around 7-8 months so kinda new

Also my dad is the OC so I’m kinda frighted to ask him for any advice

If you’ve only been in a few months, don’t stress about Cpl just yet. It’s a goal to get, but focus on going out an enjoying as many experiences as you can.

Cadet is the best rank. Underrated. You can just enjoy and not worry about any responsibilities. Go get loads of experience, then come back to this.

And you only realise it once the buzz of promotion wears off and everything gets delegated to you :joy:
