Project TITAN for Warrant Officers - will the ATC follow a similar format

I hear that the ATC will follow Project Titan in a way… WO’s getting recognition when commissioning - anyone else heard anything? Ranking as follows;

WO with 5yrs - FO
WWO - Flt Lt
RWO - Sqn Ldr

could ruffle feathers…

Sounds dumb to me. Why on earth would a WO want a commission? :wink:

BSF, surely Sqn Ldr would be out of the question as it is role-based only. Flt Lt could be stretching it too as I don’t see a few (or sometimes quite a few) years as a WO as being quite the same in reality as a decade or so with a commission.

Some sort of recognition is probably a good idea though - how about Fg Off once OIC completed, or a couple of years superiority?

And don’t base it on WWO/RWO: these are just specialist roles and have less inherently to do with being in an officer role than the standard role of many squadron-based WOs may have. Time of service and role on squadron is probably more relevant.

i thought there already was a “fast track” for a WO anyway who went commission?

or at leats rather than 2 years FO and 10 Flt Lt it was shorter???

Once commissioned, a WO(ATC) can be promoted to Fg Off after one year rather than two. Further promotion to Flt Lt follows the normal route thereafter.

Possibly for WOs commissioning the main reason is they are already OC Squadron, meaningafter OIC and OCs Course they would be Flt Lt anyway, which could be as little as a few weeks if they can go on almost consecutive courses.
