Prince Charles's Letters

So released now to the guardian under the FOA…

From what I can see makes sensible suggestions, much more than most MPs.

I don’t think they should have been published, but I think the result for Prince Charles will be quite positive.

its not over…

Charles’ letters are known within whitehall as ‘black spider letters’, yet all these letters are typed - so how did they get their name? is it that there are two types/sets of letters, the typed, formal, perhaps more reasonable letters, and the handwritten ‘black spider letters’ that are perhaps less edifying?

i will confess that the letters that have been released do not correspond to the reaction i understand letters from Charles get from the CS and ministers who recieve them.

Nor do I feel they should have been published but as you say I don’t think it will damage him in a way those seeking the FOI would have wanted. Just like anyone he’s expressing an opinion albeit from a slightly higher position. I for one am quite happy that he does this, I would sooner have a future Monarch taking an activie interest, rather than being a passive onlooker. I can imagine members of The Royal Family have done this sort of thing for centuries. I just think that because Charles has been King in waiting for so long and we have all the wonderful technology to exploit, that people with far too much time on their hands have looked to have a go at him. One of these from one of the letters would be Bliar himself, encouraging Charles to write letters knowing full well they could be released under the FOA and as a result potentially underming Charles in his future role as Monarch. Unfortunately we will have to wait another 15-20 years before we get a blow by blow account of the deceit and behind closed doors dealings of Bliar and his cronies. Especially Bliar lining himself (and his wife) up for his post PM / MP days as some sort superfixer.
