[Cough] Returning to face to face activity. [/Cough]
Is that a “Covid19” cough (in which case, b*gger off & self-isolate ) or a “sarcasm” cough?
We’ve had an email asking to push a camp in October to cadets - that would suggest we will be back in September?
Nobody knows that for definite, just someone hoping for the best I imagine.
Someone trying to get early planning in
Expect late cancellation due to ‘Service Requirements’ if it is in any way on MOD property as units catch up with their own training
Anyone checked the Staff are willing to DI the camp??
if it is on a military base anyone checked with the station commander?
Our shooting officer was told it is unlikely RAFAC “visitors” will be allowed to our parent station for shooting (be that using the 25m range or picking up weapons) as restrictions are in place to only those on base who need to be…
So the camp is an AT camp, looks like it isn’t on an RAF station…
Don’t shoot the messenger! I was just asked to push it through CP, I had deliberately left it off as thought it was so unlikely it would just get those interested excited and false hope… but the email has come round saying promote to cadets… I have nothing to do with the camp so can’t answer any of the organisational questions…
Myself, the Trg Off and OC are going to plan for a September return. However, this virus is still unpredictable and who knows where we will be.
Be interesting to see the infection rate and/or deaths in the weeks following 04 July.
You still need staff to commit in theory if nothing else.
Or are they doing back to front and looking to guilt trip staff?
Nothing so negative - there was no plea for staff - simply the request to advertise the camp to cadets.
So I assume they have staffing in place.
Indeed, I’m still planning for two weekend activities, one in mid-September and one at the end of October.
Do I expect that they’ll go ahead? I think it unlikely at best for the first and ‘who knows’ for the second; but it’d be absolutely no good waiting until the first of September to see what happens. By that time it’d be guaranteed too late to do anything.
At the start of today’s briefing the Welsh Education Minister took questions from school kids about going back to school next week, what the plans are for September and next year etc. There were a load of questions from kids of all different ages. I know it’ll only appeal to a niche of kids but still seems like a good way of going about things to me.
Would be good to see something similar done for our cadets on a corps level, and not just restricted to senior cadets. Genuine messaging direct from the top explaining, as best they can what’s happening and what the plans are long term. If a Minister can do it I see no reason why an Air Commodore or Group Captain can’t.
Yes there is.
Ministers make things up.
Staff Officers have more integrity.
At the moment we are only stood down on F2F until 31/08. Therefore need to plan as if we will be back on 01/09. Inevitably some/most things will be cancelled but better to have things in place if we can use them
Lol ok. The gliding “recovery” has certainly gone well hasn’t it? Not to mention that aerospace academy, launching the space syllabus, enough PTS badges, the red bashing exercise etc.
They’re as prone to lying as anyone else.
All I’m saying is it would be good for the cadets to have some sense that the upper echelons of the organisation actually care even a tiny bit about their concerns.
Well, the Scouts are doing similar for all Adult Volunteers.
Tonight ~10000 adult volunteers will be joining a Zoom call to receive a briefing from the Senior Leadership Team and a Q&A session.
24 June meeting 2020 at 7pm
Staying in touch with you during this critical time couldn’t be more important to support you with the information you need. So many of you said how useful it was to ask members of Team UK and our Senior Leadership team questions, and hear how we’re responding to the crisis first-hand. We’ll be discussing four critical issues that affect us all:
- Preparing for a safe return to face-to-face Scouts – We know many of you are keen to return to face-to-face meetings and activities as soon as it’s safe to do so. We’ll bring you up to speed on what we’re doing to prepare for this and other measures to keep Scouts safe, and how this information will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
- Support for local Scout funds – As ever, we’ll be signposting the financial and other support available to you locally.
- Membership fee proposals – We’ll also explain the impact the new financial situation has on the membership fee and sharing proposals for 2021.
- A financial update – We’ll be sharing a frank assessment of our finances at a national level and the impact this has on services, and the role and structure of HQ.
Thank you for all you’re doing to support young people, families and your fellow volunteers. We look forward to joining you on the call.
What an odd statement to make.
You do realise that several dozen air cadets were killed in the line of duty whilst still air cadets but volunteering on RAF stations doing low skilled tasks etc…
Why bring up WW2 and death rates.
Is the CCF really that pious that it believes it has the monopoly on sacrifice?
Sacrifices were made by all.
If my work zoom calls are anything to go by, the speakers will be interupted by about 5000 dogs barking, offers of cups of tea, and passive aggressive sniping at the boss, because people have forgotten to put their mics to ‘Mute’…
Group Captain North is running a Region wide OCs forum in a week or so, which I think is pretty good. Not sure if other Regions are doing the same, though.
Of course they were; but the numerical contribution of the OTCs/JTCs was enormous, proportional to the numbers involved, and dates back to WW1 as well; and compulsory service was a key part of this, not some kind of disadvantage.
Well yes, all attendee’s are muted and limited to view only and questions are submitted via chat.
This sounds like a sensible idea! no idea about my region.
