I’m not even sure it is what the media say that matters now. It’s what is trending on social media, and that’s a place where whoever shouts loudest gets an audience.
Certainly not a venue for rational discussion of science or statistics.
What I would like to see is a breakdown of the data concerning cases, for example of the number recorded in a day, what percentage were unvaccinated, partly vaccinated, fully vaccinated, children, caught in hospital, or in an identified risk group, and then finally what percentage is of fully vaccinated, generally healthy adults.
Also, why the issue with Plan B? I really don’t know why that wasn’t Plan A once the relaxations were done in the Summer.

Others mouthing off over poor staff admin.

In my Wing at least 2 of 20+ Sqns haven’t reopened and probably never will sadly.

That would be too much detail and too many small numbers for the media outlets to deal with and won’t meet their narrative. Better to pump out big number to stimulate an air of panic.
My Wing’s lost 8, but at least 4 of them were teetering before covid.

I’ve just had a look at the Commandant’s Twitter feed and it looks like face masks and social distancing indoors has finally been binned off.
On the basis that official word usually takes weeks to filter down, we’ll just use his pictures as the authority!

Given plan b involves bubbles at school id put 50p on that being reintroduced in the next fortnight and probably a stop on residential. Already hearing some mil establishments don’t want the Cadets on their site due to them being the main demographic age range for infection
Some are already back to splitting days for year groups, mask policies, reducing movement by confining to sections, etc.
Our Sqn had escaped cases until recently, but both local secondaries are seeing upticks and those I work with and know from further afield have got stories about what’s going on where their kids are.
Of course (as we all know) that doesn’t apply to all schools as some are blissful.

The squadron I’ve just transferred from have shut due to an outbreak…It’s snowballing.

pretty sure I’ve seen something about cadets wearing face coverings, but a cfav presenting (if 2m away) can be uncovered.

Nothing official, but plenty of cba-itis.
It’s constant no mask wearing on Social Media, including being shared by those in senior-ish places. Wing/Region courses indoors; No masks.
Just decided to do a quick flick through Instagram on the Sqns page to see roughly what the actual stats are. Of the first 15 posts that show cadets indoors and not distanced, 5 show cadets all wearing masks, 10 show cadets not wearing masks. That’s indoor only as per the rules.
Clearly the rules are generally not understood or are now just actively being ignored with no consequence.
To be fair I’ve lost track. Is it no masks outside, masks inside if less than 2m distance or is it masks inside all the time?
