Please Help: 1940 ATC Levenshulme

Hi,

Does anyone know what happened to the Jet Provost XM474 Cockpit after the 1940 ATC closed?

Or anyone know who I can contact regarding this?

It’s listed on ukserials.com and demobbed.org.uk as moving ‘to No.1804 ATC Sqn South Reddish, to No.247 ATC Sqn, Ashton-under-Lyne’. Perhaps it’s still there?

247 Ashton-under-Lyne sqn, which is Greater Manchester Wing training centre/HQ, definitely has a pair of jet provost cockpits and front ends of the fuselages. So if they are the same ones, they are definitely still there

Thank you for the links! This is great!

Thank you! Do you know if members of the public can go have a browse?

One of them is a more permanent gate guardian, and it’s behind a metal fence inside the premises, so you could look through although it may look a bit dodgy for someone to just inspect the front of the building. The other one is more mobile, and I think it’s often taken to the like of country fairs/displays, so that your best option for seeing it up close probably. You could always email the sqn/wing.

Streetview - looks like a red cockpit/aircraft nose behind the building
