Plans for 2025

What plans for our units do we have for 2025? Anyone set any goals or aims, have anything they’re working towards or aspirations?

I’ll start:

I want to start running junior cadet training weekends residentially where we get them (probably) their first night away somewhere very local, and use the extra time to do things like basic swimming proficiency, blue first aid etc.

We use our RAC and run some other qctivities also.

For us, we’re working through our first ASTRA term which will lean into STEM and other activities once per week, and putting our new 3D printer through its paces. Our academic term was our classification push for one night per week between Sep-Dec.

Also building on the strong passion for music by working with local staff to start developing a sector band with a regular training day once per month.

Excited!

Our RAC is pretty simple to book, CTC is aswell if theres space

Whats RAC? (Apart from someone who comes out to you when your car breaks down! )
Is CTC cadet training centre?

Regional acitivities centre and yep CTC is cadet training centre, with the rught contacts they let us have it when the ACF arent using it

Trouble with the RAC is the lack of armoury on site, delivering more Weapons Training and Ranges is my goal for 2025 alongside bringing a sqn Air Rifle range online.

Residental for L98 IWT makes it so much easier, especially for parents!

Correct.

Having an armoury, or one nearby would maximise the delivery.

(I’m working in that for future delivery…)

Future plans for further wpns training, delivery of fieldcraft to the sector and improving the squadron flight simulators.

My team are mad keen to get some of this going…

I need to spend some time digging around for any rules, even if we were just using bits of wood and exploring it as an interest piece.

Thats a a touchy subject :joy:

May re-connect with the Civ Com chair of my original Sqn as a Cadet to potentially join the committee.

Don’t really have the available time to be a CFAV but do want to return to the ATC someday.

You’ll have to pass on those contacts…

I think with the growing uniformed staff numbers we have, I usually have ideas that often result in a no from the OC. But I will attempt to squeak up and be a little more pushy to question the ‘no’ responses and turn them into an ok or even a yes.

So the more ideas chucked in this forum, the better :sunglasses:

I’ve had a Microsoft Forms 2024 Feedback Form open for my cadets to complete over Christmas, with some interesting results.
Having asked which of the Core Activities they are most interested in, I’m not really surprised to see the top 4 of Shooting, Fieldcraft, AT and Flying/Gliding.

But then looking at how well the cadets think we are delivering each area of Core Activity . . . we’ve got some work to do.

Would you mind sharing what questions you asked etc?

Interesting, wonder what the results would be if you’d includes classification & drill?

Drill would be top, simples

Here’s a link if you want to duplicate it.
It’s pretty straight forward with Section 1 focusing on the Core Activities; Rank your interest, then rate the sqn’s performance in each area and then free text feedback for each area. and then the same again for the PTS that attract badges. (here’s the results for PTS)
