I often see posts coming up showing some amazing properties around the UK that, relatively, compared to the SE, are pretty cheap.

Either that for me, or Canada. Gotta be somewhere with a common law system.
Although, Canada ditched the wigs, which is a shame.
Canada is a consideration but I’ve never been. To be honest though, I’m not emigrating before the kids finish uni by which point I’ll have almost maxed out my public sector pension so I’ll probably not carry on with legal work. I’ll find an easier and less stressful job to tide me over until I can claim my pension.
I don’t think I’d do well as an employee
They have a ridiculous amount of Thai restaurants per capital.
For some inexplicable reason, Sveg has two and Östersund has quite a lot…
But there is a temple in that country ordered built by the Thai king in the 1900s so that might be why.
Always remember riding the tram to the harbour i. Gothenburg to discover the only food available was Thai. I have no idea what it was I ate because it was ordered in Swedish.
Nice, pretty location but only makes about 20C in summer - did an air show there once (Abbotsford) - got a seaplane tour around the local area. A cousin used to live there - weather was quite wet at times & it still got a fair amount of snow over winter.
Like living in poverty
I like bathing in North sea oil
Sounds lovely
I think you’d say goodbye to lots of things, like free education, free prescriptions etc. No more barnett formula to bail you out. We can prob have a tax decrease in England and Wales. Whoop. Maybe if the Scottish don’t vote for independance next time, we can have a vote if we want to keep footing the bill.
I jest of course - I have just received my first sporren in the post today to go with my new kilt
How long has it been since the last independance thread on here?
is it that time of the decade?
I’m looking for North Wales coast. fairly easy commute to the office in Manchester for the couple of days a week I’m in - maybe have a hotel in Manchester Monday / Tuesday night but I really need to live back by the sea again.
Canada is a BIG country to travele across. Did one trip RAF Waddington, refuelled overhead Goose Bay (about 2200 nm). Goose - Vancouver was about 2300nm!! Lots of trees…
There is a Jenvey island there though, named after (I think) an RCAF Flt Lt Donald Jenvey from WW2, Typhoon pilot. Lots of escapades - got shot whilst evading escape after sheltering up with a Dutch family for a while.
