Has many people run like a parents where they get to come in meet all the staff, other parents and cadets etc.
If so what kind of things did you do was an evening?
any ideas welcome
Do you have an annual ‘AGM’ type night? This is pretty typical in most units.
All parents/family are invited along for the night. Tea and cake. Talks from the staff, CWC and cadets about what they’ve been up to. Tour of the Sqn with cadets showing off various things they do etc.
Normally a good way to get some new CFAV/CWC members.
No we don’t have one not sure if they have in a ling time actually but thats good idea and yes be good for getting potential parent volunteers.
Give it a go, well worth doing it every year. Keeps parents involved and seeing what we’re doing.
Some units to it in the summer, then you can get the CWC to put on a good BBQ too, and allows use of outdoor areas to show off too.
Get the parents/siblings doing a bit of drill, that’s always a good laugh. Set up some first aid scenarios. Have a selection of different uniforms. So some cadets in 2As showing off drill and dicip, whilst others in MTP doing fieldcraft first aid etc.
Normally a good fun night!
It’s our key way of recruiting to the committee of which we have had two in the past we’ve been so successful!
