One rule for me, but another for thee - SMS approvals

I can see that applying to AT. Not to classroom training!

Classroom training by its very nature is self authorised though.

Not if it involves more than one unit

Yes it is, assume the organising unit commander has the ability to approve.

It might provide some clarity for some local arrangements around when you might have the application in a state to share, e.g.:

Draft

  • Initial entry created but not all detailed entered
  • Not ready to share with others but allows people to see an upcoming event is in the planning stage
  • Subject to change

Provisional (new state)

  • Automated validation to cut down on basic manual checks
  • Bare minimum information included based on activity type e.g. admin order and RA
  • Has qualified staff added
  • Ready to share on Cadet/Volunteer Portal

Approved

  • Manual verification by SME
  • Includes both list of staff and cadet participants

So - Provisional is the same as Submitted yes? Is it not the same?

It needs more thought and this was intended to be an additional state before submission. i did subsequently consider if CP could only be shared to after submitted for approval because at that point details should be fairly concrete (other than transport plan if req).

I do like the idea of there being some quality control on events before being seen by cadets though.

Has this SMS been deleted/hidden now? Can’t seem to find it.

Hahaha!they dont trust us!

Old thread - a year old in fact!! But good to see that NASC has gone ahead without approval this year… good cosistent ignorance of policy there.

tis typical of “big ticket events” same was true for the Muster and RIAT was approved two days after it started, D&C was only approved the day before it started

You can’t approve until you get the WBGT prediction off of momids for the duration of the camp - Momids only does five days :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Brilliant :joy:

If I’m correct I believe RIAT 2022 is still a draft (or at least was for months after the activity [it was pointed out to me in March]) Surely this is a MASSIVE issue given over 300 cadets received first aid on an uninsured activity…
