just read a email distributed by our Wing stating all staff still to complete their OIC/SSIC must have a course booke dby October 1st or their appointment will be withdrawn
i am under the assumption a staff member has 12 months from appointment (board interview) to get to Cranwell…why the sudden rush for people to be booked up?
changes to OIC/SSIC? ATF?
what is confusing to me is who it has come from - Media & Marketing Officer (MMO) at HQAC, seems to be the wrong office to be kicking up a fuss about staff getting trained?
as for similiar stories i have heard of a Sgt who kept putting off their course (dropping out last minute for whatever reason) that after four years and due for FS they got binned and now a CI
Have they not ascertained why, if as it suggests, people haven’t been within the 12 months. This a conversation between said individuals and their CO and or WSO. HQAC will or should know who the people are ad advise said Wings, although the message would strongly suggest otherwise. I can’t think of one Sqn Cdr who with newbie Officer or SNCO who isn’t on their case to get it sorted ASAP. Although I have known our WHQ to not do anything when requested for 2 weeks or on one occasion book the wrong week, as it’s only WHQ that can book places. TBH it’s probably a 5 minute job, that you could do on a parade night and one less thing for WHQ staff to do, although there is probably some mind-numbing CS/MoD rationale why we can’t do it.
If there are genuine reasons as to why it hasn’t been done ATF suck it in (it is only a hobby, unless I missed the email stating it isn’t anymore) and if not then the appropriate advice with potential outcome for non-compliance advised.

Then our wing sent it to every email in thw wing[/quote]
That doesn’t make any sense. I’m betting there was more to the email which was trimmed at some point prior to you getting it. Perhaps it was an exec round-up and some people thought that latter part was relevant to a wider audience. What next, Chief if Staff telling us about Risk assessments and His Helf n Safetyness lamenting about child, protection.
