No2 trouser lining

I, alongside many others no doubt, find the no2 trousers EXCEPTIONALLY uncomfortable, especially in the warmer months. Has anyone ever had any success with modifying them to be lined?

Wouldn’t that make them warmer?

Mainly the material I mean. The wool gets very itchy when sitting for long periods of time, especially in summer. Or indeed tailored alternatives made with a different formulation!

The only tailoring I’ve ever had done is for fit and stable belt loops. I’ve heard talk of shaving the inside of them, but never tried it myself.

I have to admit, I wear tubular bandage under mine.

Could some fabric conditioner sort you out? Make the material a bit less itchy.

I had to get some trousers made by my local tailor because I just can’t wear the issued trousers.

Expensive, but I needed to…

If it’s that bad, see about switching to greens. Basic comfort seems like a fine reason to choose one uniform over another, especially if you’re inside the wire.

Are you still wearing the really old No2 trousers? The trousers I have are light-weight and are not itchy at all. I don’t think there is any wool in them. They do however, crease as soon as you sit down.

No these are the new ones, although to be fair I just got a new pair last week and these seem somewhat improved from the my last pair, but nonetheless irritable when seated for extended periods of time

You wear No.2s?

There’s so much plastic in them I’m sure they are a fire hazard :joy:

On the odd occasion however I do look a little out of place as most of the Station staff are in MTP so if I need to, I wear that instead.

Well, allegedly they passed a flamethrower test worn as an under-layer under a flying suit. Goodness knows how.

you definitely sure you are not wearing the older ones ehich did cause itchiness. the new ones never really had any complaints about as are much thinner material and more polyester in them. Also are you male or female?

Male trousers, but being a CCF bod I have to sit down in them during the day for extended periods.

Odd, never found that myself but everyone is different. Lined, they might crease less, anyway.
