So this whole policy relies on Regional HQs agreeing to pay. As soon as they disagree, either staff are tenting too or the camp has to be cancelled last minute.
Maybe the RC and his/her staff should show solidarity and do the camp instead and sleep in the tents??
Why last minute?
Most of thr time Iām sure our Wing have indicated when the camp is tented simply to amend the kit list (sleeping bag season rating) accordingly.
Point being if you turn up and find half the tents under water or up a tree thatās clearly not suitable.
Which the CC would find out a day or two before.
If i was camp com and thought the accomodation wasnt fit for purpose or safe. Id have no hesitation contacting Wg and Rg explaining that alternatives need tk be found or pull the plug.
But would the camp com be supported in that decision or just replaced by someone from Region or someone who wants to climb the greasy pole?
God knowsā¦if that happened, id bang a safeguarding notification in.
You may but would others?
What the day before? Hardly likely
Well safety of the kids and CFAV is paramount right
my thoughts exactly.
We struggle as it is to get sufficient staff to commit to annual camps, the chances of having an available spare CC in reserve is highly unlikely.
(the stumbling block will be if this is after week 1 of camp - turning up on week 3 of the camp and suggesting isnāt good enough the CoC will suggest well the last 2 weeks got by with itā¦so unless suggesting this as week one of camp season it is harder to get CoC support as theyād rather indicate evidence where it was fine (problems ignored) than support the complaining CFAV who might have valid reasons and chose to speak up)
The blue tents are down againā¦
Yeah, noticed that yesterday morningā¦
Just bring back the 12x12sā¦
going up for families day as i left just now
And theyāve cancelled next weekās camp.
Why? Something within their control or no?
Substandard tents so completely in their control.
Links not working for me
It was a VRT_Memes post showing the new tents, and saying they had flooded yesterday badly!
