New style courses - run through times?

More courses are slowly being converted from the dreaded powerpoint to the new format of interactive slides and videos. Air power, the space awards and marksmanship are the ones that spring to mind.

They are intended to be run either individually by the cadets, or instructor lead for a group of cadets on a VPN.

Does anybody know how long it takes to run through the different courses in their entirety?

It would be useful to know for VPN planning purposes, but also to know that cadets aren’t skipping course content when they are asked to do it as individuals.

For the classification subjects, it’s worth referring to the BTEC Specification which specifies 40 hours of “Guided Learning” for each subject.

As for the Space award, I believe the blue is intended to be a single parade night, and the Marksmanship/Skill at Arms ones are also just a parade night.

For Air Power it’s about 45 minutes per module.

For the safeguarding module its 35 to 45 minute…

Then 35 to 45 minutes…

Then 35 to 45 minutes…

Then 35 to 45 minutes…

The guided learning need not be entirely the packages created or provided by HQ. E.g. it could include asking cadets to research a topic or to make something. You’ll likely find the run-through times of the new packages will be less than the guided learning times in the specification. The packages present the minimum material to be covered (as per the specification learning outcomes) and the delivery guides will often give guidance on what else instructors could do / use, e.g. erect a tent or make a model airfield.
