New Smoking and Drinking Policy

Had to read this several times…

Why in Gods name would you ever do that?
Its just the first step towards prison.
Regadless of safeguards or records kept.

I take it you’ll never allow one of your kids friends round to play just in case?

Entirely different and i think you know that…

A 2 generation difference and no alcohol and a kids playdate is sonewhat different from a cozy dinner with alcohol with a tutor.

Of course i forget… its unheard of, teachers having it away with students. :man_facepalming:

I really think we are into reds under the bed territory here. You are seeing paedophiles under every stone.

I’m not talking one to one cosy dinners by candlelight - six at a time, for a meal together.

You could have had the meeting at your house. It being a RAFAC establishment now. OC Home Command usually outranks everyone so could include their own opinions on the matter.

I don’t want to be “that guy” but that looks like red wine on the table to me

Which is fine assuming: A) This was not a RAFAC organised event. B) No supervising CFAV were drinking. C) No cadets were drinking. All of which I believe to be true in this case, so all good.

oh i know - i was being slightly facetious

So its ok for them to see/be around some people in uniform…but not other people in the same uniform?

Pretty much, it’s almost like it’s a stupid poorly thought out policy.

That could be the motto of the last 10 years to be honest

Just finished briefing a cadet on their post 18 staff/cadet options, along with the pros and cons of both.

Me: “Do you have any questions?”

Cadet: “Yes Sir, if I go staff at 18, can I come down the pub with you all after the staff meetings?”

:joy:

Hope uou said yes, and it’s your round

Interesting, raised the following several years ago, a Cadet over 18 and myself where members of the local Vintage motorcycle club, at the same time he was a cadet on my unit.
so on a cadet night as a cadet (though over 18 adult in the eyes outside of cadets) he could not be seen to socialise with CFAV in whatever capacity, but the following night we attend the club meeting, had a beer etc. When we attend club weekend bash we shared a tent.
No one was able to give us a defined answer, as in the club he was an adult.

real Life and RAFAC policy don’t interact too well ……

I had a similar thing where I joined the TA with one of my cadets. On cadet time it was separate accommodation, no social mixing, etc, on TA time we shared a basha, communal showers, drank in the same bar, etc.

Well I’m goint straight to jail! My nephews were Cadets, I’ve been to 17, 18, 19 bithday parties where their friends were there who may also have been cadets and there was plenty of alcohol, drinking games. Personal life and duty are two separate things. I may have also been guily of taking one unaccompanied to and from cadet events and had them sleep at my house the night before or after. As soon as duty starts it was Sir and Cdt.

I was under the impression we weren’t allowed booze at things like this any more? Comdt has liked and shared the post though…

Looks like a great night and a great idea for fund raising, would just be nice if this was actually allowed? What’s the loop hole or is this just ignoring the rule?

If no cadets present then it’s permissible.

If it’s put on bader SMS & approved then it’s fine.
