So am I unique in finding that the latest issue v-neck jumpers are a bit of a pain? They seem to be very long, both to the hem, and in the arm. Also, irrespective of being eg a 112cm or 106cm, they seem to be the same size: giant.
And yet always tight in the sleeve…
I’ve tried three. My sized/ issued one (which although fitting at the chest is almost the length of a Mary Quant mini-dress), is currently the best comprimise. I had one donated by an ex-comrade, which although identically-marked for chest-size is tighter than a straightjacket.
My latest plan is to try shrinking a bought 112 down to a 106…hopefully the hem will lift. A cautious brief tumble-dry at ‘cotton’ seemed to have some useful effect. Any opinions as to the value in me trying a hot wash? Or will that shrink it to the size of a facecloth?
They often seem to contain masses of pale threads within the weave, and some I’ve seen have weird obvious bands of different thicknesses of weave/knit. Having checked a lot of them, I notice that the country of origin marked on some of them is China…! Wow. This reminds me of the dodgy Spanish-made beltless No1 dress jackets back in the early '90s.
I’m not being super-fussy, just honest. Any ideas (beyond the danger boil-wash)?
