New issue jumper: problems?

So am I unique in finding that the latest issue v-neck jumpers are a bit of a pain? They seem to be very long, both to the hem, and in the arm. Also, irrespective of being eg a 112cm or 106cm, they seem to be the same size: giant.

And yet always tight in the sleeve…

I’ve tried three. My sized/ issued one (which although fitting at the chest is almost the length of a Mary Quant mini-dress), is currently the best comprimise. I had one donated by an ex-comrade, which although identically-marked for chest-size is tighter than a straightjacket.

My latest plan is to try shrinking a bought 112 down to a 106…hopefully the hem will lift. A cautious brief tumble-dry at ‘cotton’ seemed to have some useful effect. Any opinions as to the value in me trying a hot wash? Or will that shrink it to the size of a facecloth?

They often seem to contain masses of pale threads within the weave, and some I’ve seen have weird obvious bands of different thicknesses of weave/knit. Having checked a lot of them, I notice that the country of origin marked on some of them is China…! Wow. This reminds me of the dodgy Spanish-made beltless No1 dress jackets back in the early '90s.

I’m not being super-fussy, just honest. Any ideas (beyond the danger boil-wash)?

Same for me. I did consider donating mine to a female friend as a winter dress.

All the uniform is made in China now.

I had an experiment last month with this, my cadet had a v-neck sized 112 (this fit him fine). I started with a crew neck of the same size and worked down the sizes until we found a crew neck that fit him fine, I think we had to drop to an 100!

My issue was finding arm length. To get a long enough one I had to go up the chest, which means the V is huge and you can see my shirt epaulettes. I sorted that with a shoelace in the neck.

I get around these problems by just never wearing a jumper.

Seems to have worked OK so far.

GPJs seem to be having a similar issue. Regardless of the chest/height size the cuffs are tiny.

The advice we’ve had from stores is to measure the wearer as normal (which worked for crew-neck) but order a v-neck jersey 2 sizes smaller.

I have a problem with the new issue jumper, its horrible, the fit is naff and has put me in the odd position of prefering the round neck ribbed jumper!

agreed, i much prefer my crew neck jersey.
