I’m a new corporal in the act I got a promotion in June 2024,I have been a good cadet but being promoted I feel like I ain’t getting no respect as a cpl beacuse I’m to soft any tips on how to be strict but fair and still have a good cadet life?
Ultimately as an NCO you’ve got to know where to draw the line between having fun and misbehaving, and also be able to identify when the time right to be able to mess around a bit and have fun, or be a bit more serious.
If you can hold yourself to that standard, and seek support from higher ranks when you need it, then cadets will come to respect and emulate you. It doesn’t come overnight, and is hard work to achieve.
Make sure you’re aware of what your squadron’s process is for managing discipline. Maybe you’ve got a book somewhere that is used for recording incidents. Maybe you use a strike system where upon second occurrence the cadet is passed higher up the chain of command.
