because those up high forget/don’t recognise us as CFAV - namely civilian volunteers, and not part of the establishment of the CoC where the command of “jump” receives the reaction of “yes sir” but for a CFAV the reaction is typically “why, it offers no benefit to me, my Cadets, its extra work on the volunteer and only serves your own cause by reducing your workload/cover your butt”
someone needs to justify their job/ensure their shares in the supplying company continue to look profitable?
When we used the same rank slides as the RAF, I’m pretty sure the RAFAC never actuall paid for them - like we never actually pay for uniform.

I really think this cost claim is being blown out of all proportion. CCF have school-specific rank slides and ACF ones have regimental branding or are personalised to the individual county / battalion (possibly with several versions for different regimental affiliations).

The cost won’t be more than a cadets first month of subs.
Not that it’s coming out of that pot, but it puts it into context…

I think you are confusing unit badges with the rank slides. They use this instead of the rafac TRF and/or ATC mudguard & Sqn no.
This is a single design badge able to be ordered in bulk.
The rank tabs for cadets in ACF just say “cadet” & sea cadets is in lieu of classifications
Actually I’ve seen a lot of CCF with special rank slides - name of the school etc below the rank, just as some ACF rank slides have the regiment etc below.

The CCF ones will all be at private expense though.

I was talking about stuff like this:
And this:

And regimental affiliations like this (Rifles):

And this (Guards):

See what you mean although combat logos are anything but official. (Didn’t think they were still going)
I appreciate that, but I’m just using Google image searches to demonstrate stuff I’ve seen in the wild.

So I showed my current O18 and soon to be O18 cadets the image last night and asked for feedback.
Of 4 cadets, not one positive reaction.
General consensus of my cadets was that they don’t look good, and felt it was a way to push future O18s down the staff route and bin O18 cadets as none of them would want to wear them.
As others have mentioned earlier in the thread, the overriding question was “Why can’t they just put the Staff Cadet lettering on them like yours?” It’s the colours that are the issue for the cadets - they say they’re too bright and won’t look right on the uniform.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2 cadets getting close to 18 go down the cfav route if they want to stay in.
I wonder if any such consultation was attempted prior to the announcement?
If there was, the invite didn’t reach us up North. As it’s supposedly a legacy of the old CAC, if there was, it probably got ignored.

Pretty sure the only people TK ever consulted was TK and AOC.
So no one with any connection or understanding of the organisation beyond the air conditioned ivory tower.

So how do I order the Flight Staff Cadet ones for our Staffies? You can bet your bottom dollar that their Squadrons won’t order them.
Probably the same way a Squadron would. In SW it’s just a form on the region SharePoint page. It’s quite efficient. Assuming these new ones will be ordered the same way.
You could also try asking
I can’t imagine most squadron’s would refuse, it’s a quick job
Believe there will be comms in a couple of weeks, roughly when they hit the supply chain
They could have save a few pence a slide by doing the same as the ACF and CCF and gone with RAFAC instead of the full name!!
You mean I shouldn’t be wearing my rank slides in the garden? How will anyone know I’m an important officer?
In all seriousness are you suggest that FSCs would only wear those while at a VGS/AEF and not at the sqn?
My view is you are a Sgt for example and if you are a FSC you always wear the FSC version, just in case the cadet forgets to tell us they are an FSC
