New Cadet Rankslides

Any ideas when these will be available to order? My friendly WExO tried to order some for us but got told they weren’t available to order yet.

With any luck, 2050.
But I suspect procurement for these will somehow be fast tracked.

But they’ll only procure 1 set per every current cadet. With the next batch due in two years time, and they’ll be too narrow to fit on epaulettes.

But cadet direct will somehow have ones that fit properly available in a matter of days.

And 2 other suppliers will have versions created from the pixelated mess posted above, including being backwards.

I won’t be ordering

I shall wait until they are delivered and imposed on us - much as we did with the proud falcon

Ain’t got them - can’t use them !!

Look at this BS justification for charging PER rank slide!

Oh yes, catering for all those collectors wanting Air Cadet Rank Slides…

Edit: not CadetDirect

Yeah, I did spot that. Shocker.

Very interesting to read all of your views on cadet badging and age identification etc. Some refer to the bird as an “Albatross”, it is in fact an Eagle.

Just saying.

Ironically, you’re referring to our heraldry guru…

From what I recall, whilst it is intended to be an eagle, it originates in the badging of the RNAS, hence it getting referred to as an albatros.

According to RAF Heraldry Trust Link it was originally drawn as an albatross, but indeed is now described as an eagle.

Declared as an eagle by the Air Ministry in 1928. The concept of the Albatross being drawn from the RNAS use of the bird on its badges.
A question that I have answered many times over my 46 years Regular and Reserve service in the RAF. I know Shakey very well and him having been a SWO and sat with me on the RAF Dress Policy Committee (now the steering group) when I was a SWO and him also being a Supplier, he’s been a guru on RAF Dress over the years. Great discussion point though.
I agree, as a serving member of the RAF, I don’t think that we need to see colour coded cadets. A simple “CADET” or “STAFF CADET” under the rank, as with the SCC(RN), SCC(RM), VSC and ACF would suffice.

Yep, the Air Ministry published an AMO in 1928 stating it as an Eagle.
