heyy! so my sqn opened their CPL and SGT applications recently. i was one of those that applied (for CPL). my OC told us applicants to wear wedgewoods next night. i was secretly told that it MIGHTT be an interview.
why would we have to wear wedgewoods and if it is an interview, what questions do they ask usually?
(we never usually have interviews or applications for promotions so theres no one at my sqn to ask)
The questions are entirely up to the interviewer, as there’s no requirement to interview at all (let alone any set questions).
Nevertheless, be ready for things like ‘why do you want to be a cpl?’, ‘why should I promote you to cpl?’, ‘what will you bring to the NCO team?’, ‘what are the duties of a JNCO?’, ‘if successful, what do you plan to do with your new rank?’, etc.
In addition, be ready for scenario-based questions possibly involving things like having to discipline your former peers and friend group.
Don’t be the one who says, I want to be NCO because I want. Be the NCO who says ‘The skills I have learnt, I would like to pass on’ Think about the cadets as your team you want to get the best out of, and help improve as a Team. Help those who are struggling. Don’t be the ‘I can shout at cadets’ because staff don’t like hearing that in the office.
The nco’s we have had, they’ve had the shouting chat, as this has happened too often. Bear in mind this is our hobby, and we are here for the same reason, to have fun, learn and make new friends. A happy cadet makes for a happy NCO, and that makes for a happy staff team.
