“Nacatc Windermere accommodation: food activities how much spending money to bring rooms if anyone can answer.?”
that really is a question with an answer “how long is a piece of string”
Food - all depends on who is cooking it. I have only been to Windermere as part of a Wing week’s AT “Camp” and part of the team had a CFAV who attended purely to act as “catering manager” they were exceptional in cooking for the masses and meant food was ready soon after arrival back at base
Activities - depends on the theme of the week. Some, like me, go for a mix of AT - which can be trekking, camping, watersports (Canoe/Kayaking) and climbing/abseiling
others can go for a single theme a whole week of climbing, or trekking etc. Some even go to gain qualifications to do those tasks
Spending money - i have never needed any “pocket money” when visiting Windermere i don’t recall there being a “tuck shop” as the provided meals were more than adequate. that said we did drop by the local towns and i did make use of the AT shops can add to my kit - but that was on card.
We did visit Kendal climbing wall and so there could be excuse to use “pocket money” there for whatever reason (vending machine)
rooms - will be depending on the course and numbers attending.
One visit i was in the large 20(?) person room as we had more CFAVs than Cadets, others a swap bunking in the smaller rooms although for the life of me cannot recall how many they were
Windermere has messing now
Windermere always had messing. Do you mean it has contract caters who cook the food and you do not have to supply a gifted amateur CFAV who produced wonderful food or a panicked person who had been dropped in it because they had a food hygiene certificate and could only produce a variation of spag bol every day.
Yes, it has a catering contract now.
When did you last visit?
It’s honestly a bit of a pain, because it limits how long you can be out for, not such an issue in the winter, but in summer it’s a bit of a hindrance.
