Just thought I’d check. Still not approved. Not so much as a comment on it.
Also spotted this on the sub apps that I somehow missed before:
Edit:
Looks like we had the same idea at the same time!

Ha. Yeah. And I really was guessing it hadn’t been approved still. I don’t have SMS access so can’t see the activity! Just knew it’d be in draft…
Anyone for a sweepstake?
I’ll take status eventually changed to “cancelled”.
Then if changed to ‘cancelled’ there needs to be some serious questions asked as to why!!
I’ve heard that its been separately authorised by CAC.
So yeh, thats not showing up in any of our event logs
Well, I found the medical plan:
OC Med is listed on the FragO if you want to ask more.
‘Student Paramedics 2nd & 3rd Year (All hold other FA Quals)’ Thats an absolute no no, they shouldnt be there as S/Paras, they should be listed as whatever there official FA Qual Is. Thats a fitness to practice case waiting to happen if they willingly/are forced to act in there S/Para capacity. I dont know any Uni in the UK that certifies there Students to act in there Student Scope outside of official Placements.
Re there being Para and Nurses there, I hope they had kit etc there to act in that capacity otherwise there really isnt any point listing them in a medical plan
The medical thing is almost calling out for qualified volunteers to be dual badged as RAFAC/RAFVR(Medical) and wear the appropriate hat depending on the activities.
Being reservists could they then come under military regs and actually provide services at their level of qualification and be covered for indemnity purposes?
If they where reservists and the cover was provided by the RAF Reserve then then they’d have proper kit/policies/Insurance etc so I guess it would be a better option than currently.
I’d love to know the capacity the Student Paras acted in, cause thats a massive issue if they’ve been made to/volunteered to work within there student scope without approval (which I’ve never known to be given)
Theres been student kicked off my course for doing it…
I’m not in the field, but that part got my attention too. Really thin ice there I think.
It would be all too easy to pick up and/or use a piece of kit that they aren’t qualified to use if it happened to be at hand or was passed to them.
The problem is to be a reservist they would have to go through the reservist recruitment pathways either as an airman or commissioned officer. I don’t see RAF medical services going for that idea just for the RAFAC.
True.
Only real option then is proper policies etc from RAFAC, which I dont see happening anytime soon
@Texan As medical professionals we both understand the implications of rendering care outside our scopes of practice, just CRAFAC and his bunch of pixies at Cranwell don’t understand this. They think because they have ordered it, and signed off on it that it will happen regardless. They are the ones who will not be stood in a court answering questions.
OC 22 group needs to take a firm grip of this if not the CAS, unfortunately he has enough on his desk after Wigston leaving.
Maybe CRAFAC desperately needs to have a word with DG RAF Medical services, as in tomorrow to see if he can get out of the hole he and his ‘team’ are in!.
Absolutely!
We both know steps need to be taken, but on the other hand we both know that they definitely wont be.
For the activities we do, I’m surprised the minimum cover is AFA Tbh. In the public world I require my FREC 4 to cover less…
I’d like to do a side by side comparison of RAFAC vs ACF vs SCC First aid and medical cover for Large scale event
Unfortunately, this sort of stuff really interests me and I let my self get sucked into it lol
@talon do you guys have anything in policy that specifies activity type, personnel numbers, and type and quantity of qualifications required?
excuse my ignorance but shouldn’t there be an EASP as part of that plan??
Our wing seems to require it for any and every event and personally been asked to produce on for an a airshow and museum visit or - I would have thought a large event like this would firstly have more than two pages against the “medical plan” and include an EASP given what is expected at a local level
An EASP? Exercise Action Safety Plan… one used for FIELDCRAFT/MIL SKILLS?
Why?
why indeed…but I have been asked to create one for an day visit to an airshow
if I am expected to produce one to take a minibus number of cadets to an airshow, I would have thought there would be something similar for bigger events…unless our Wing is adopting local policy?
Without diverting the thread too much…
…an Admin Order and RA would be sufficient. An EASP is too much, and out of scope for the requirements…
Afaik we require it for everything, apart from squadron parade nights.
