Music camp (@ [redacted] training camp)

Hi all.

I am interested in attending a music camp, however I do not hold any music qualifications or badges.

I can play a few songs on the marching bells, but not enough that i think would be standard.

Can I still attend the camp?

The general question of “can you get into music without past experience” has an answer of absolutely, I did when I was a cadet.

We can’t answer a specific question of “what do I need for this camp”, that’s best asked of your staff. There’s likely Joining Instructions or an Admin Order on the Cadet Portal event that might clarify, however.

In my general experience, music camps often have badge prerequisites, while something like a Sqn/Sector/Wg band will often not, but really you need to speak to your Training Officer as every Sqn/Sector/Wg is different.

I’ve taken the specific name of the camp out of your post title in case it’s a local Wing event, it’s generally asked that any information that identifies to you Wing or below as a cadet isn’t shared. I’m sure a mod could put it back if I’ve been overeager.

Np, if it does have requirements it’s definitely worth asking your staff to get in touch with your WMusO, there’s often local stuff that runs more widely that I’m sure they’d be keen to help you get onto!
