Hi i have no experience in music but i would like to have drummer shiny badge but which course do i need to complete to get instrument badge in future is it fine for me to do BTEC level 2 in music and get merit for example that may be equivalent to grade 5 i am guessing and get scanned to get badge?
I am 16 is it worth it or is it too late for me to get badge in future that i will get it by the time i leave in 18?
Thank you
Hello, I’m no expert however, at our recent Wing Field day an ex Director of Music for the RAF (Group captain) awarded Music badges to those who achieved Grade 5 in music outsidethe corps. If inside the Corps you get this equivalent, surely you get the badge…
Last time I checked it was Grade 3 and if you can get a copy of that certificate to your wing music officer they may happen to have some on them to give out, which is what happened with mine.
Doing the BTEC doesn’t get you a badge!
Check with your wing bandmaster (if you have one), join your wing band and learn the basics of drumming. It takes about a year to gain your badge and around 3 parades.
Another option would be to start taking drum lessons, and as per ACTO123, once you reach grade 3 you can apply for a badge. But this might be a long shot!!
I was in the same position, I just did a lot of the first book, played a song on the guitar and he gave me the badge, it was the easiest badge I’ve got, minus the multiple parade nights doing the workbook… All before I’ve turned 18
