Mtp

Disregarding the fact that photo is obviously photoshopped…

Who is the middle one trying to kid?

I’ve just been given a load of Tact vests for ranges etc and some of them are in the new cam, can we wear that stuff?

I have a full set of PCS as well so just waiting for the nod to get that on! Will the cadets put their badges on the velcro patches?

Technically the order bans us from wearing PCS combat uniform and “ancillaries” in MTP/Multicam; not equipment. Crack on.

Though, I’ll bet it takes mere seconds before someone (having gotten the wrong end of the stick) tells you that ‘they know catagoricaly there’s an order forbidding the use of MTP webbing and equipment’
You’re forewarned to set them straight.

Ancillary items are things like: t-shirt, Norgie, fleece, waterproofs…

The replacement for the norgie (I forget its name) and the thermal smock are not MTP items. It would be pretty bone if you weren’t allowed to use them.

Technically the order has banned their use because they are “ancillaries”. Though of course it would be pretty retarded for someone to chase that.

It’s possible that whoever wrote that order wanted to ban the wearing of MTP/Multicam clothing along with MTP/Multicam webbing, bergens, &c…but fortunately, that’s not what they’ve written.

i have an Multicam baseball cap. Can i wear that with my PJs?

Yes, but only if you have something more interesting to say next time you resurrect a thread.

I’ve just been given some MTP boxer shorts :silly:

I have an mtp santa hat (honestly I do!)

He speaks the truth. I’ve seen it!

Mabbz, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve got MTP boxer shorts :stuck_out_tongue:
(Of course, combat Dave will have better ones, but he’ll have been issued his when he did his black ops course).

Given that plenty of regulars still use 95 pattern webbing as that is what is issue at the minute unless you get it pre- tour; you should be fine wearing MTP webbing with 95s may look a bit odd, but there’s no difference between that and 95 webbing with PCS.

Also with regards to when MTP will become ‘standard issue’ what happened the last time combat uniform changed? Would that be a guideline?

It’s not really that helpful an idea. Consider that the British Armed forces have been using DPM since the 1950s, and that having been phased in incrementally from then on, as battledress, then lightweights were slowly phased out. So existing items could continue to be worn throughout the whole period from the 50s up until now.

The closest we’ve probably had to this current scenario of changing colour completely is probably when we ditched red uniforms pre ww1?

I wouldn’t say so. When CS95 was introduced, there was no change in the general pattern/colour, just the design of the uniform itself, so there was no real pressing need to put the cadet forces in the new kit right away. I imagine there was also a lot of surplus kit in the system as spending wasn’t so tightly controlled then and the Armed Forces had more personnel, so more kit on the shelves.

This time round the uniform colour and design is totally different and in order to maintain the “corporate image” of the British Armed Forces, the MOD actively wanted the Cadet Forces to be in it and so they were included in the fielding plan along with regular and TA units. Stocks of old uniform have been managed so that there is very little left (not in our stores anyway!).

In short, I would not go by what happened last time round!

It’s been announced that MTP is going to be steadily rolled out in the UAS nation-wide from September, alongside several other RAuxAF Squadrons which are still using CS95.

I didn’t know the UAS even wore CS95s. I can honestly say i’ve never seen a picture of UAS student in anything other than flying gear or No.1s.

Haven’t seen many pictures of UAS activities then have you! I’ve worn my CS95s on lots of occasions.

We do plenty of force development, and with this year having done no flying it’s pretty much all we do alongside AT and other general Squadron stuff (Fundraising etc.)

Ive seen plenty of UAS guys on stations I have been based at and ive only ever seen them in mk 14’s nothing else

I really dont get why everyone wants MTP so bad ive even had cadets go out and try to buy it very odd

I was chatting to some folks about this the other day and we came to the conclusion that Air Cadets will never be allowed to wear MTP.

Here’s the theory:

  1. RAF introduces blue PCS for ‘techie’ types etc, withdraws dark blue shirt
  2. No dark blue shirts for cadets means blue PCS ends up being introduced as new Air Cadet uniform
  3. Blue PCS perfectly good enough for most Air Cadet activities, no need for MTP PCS or DPM CS95

The RN would need to opt out of the dark blue shirt too.
The other option that their Airships may prefer would be for normal cadet dress to be Wedgwoods, even perhaps short-sleeved or with permission to roll up sleeves.

I’d rule nothing out though.

They are. Just waiting to see if the RAF follows them.

We thought the scale of issue for cadets would be:

1 PCS Combat jacket/shirt - blue
1 PCS trousers - blue
1 PCS smock - blue
1 beret
1 cap badge
2 ‘blanking plates’, right arm complete with natty new ‘RAF Air Cadets’ logo badge
1 web belt
1 No 2 SD trousers
1 No 2 SD shirt (wedgewood blue), long sleeve
1 tie
1 of whatever warm layer gets issued with blue PCS (some sort of blue fleece?)

T-shirts, boots/shoes, stable belts all private purchase as atm

And you’re pretty much covered for everything. After a while I bet they’d ditch the No 2 issues and just sort out No 1s for people who really needed them.

I can see MTP PCS for SATTs, JLs etc…
