MTP uniform for flying

If I am in need of MTP for flying, but don’t have it , should I ask sqn mate to lend me or check if sqn has spare?
Thanks

To be honest, both, and also consider buying some.

I agree with @mprentice1 but also, if you’re struggling to buy a set yourself because of financial constraints or because you’re not sure what to buy then reach out to your squadron staff. They’ll support you the best they can.

Enjoy flying!

Do you have DPM because there might just be a miscom as we can’t tell you to wear MTP over DPM.

The ACTO for AEF flying says:

  1. Flying Clothing. Cadets will be issued with a flying suit, flying gloves and a helmet. Cadets will not be issued with aircrew underclothing or flying boots.

a. Fire Protection Underclothing. Although very remote, as with all light aircraft there is potential for burns injury in the event of a cockpit fire or engine fire. To provide protection against burns injury all aircrew and passengers are required to wear a second layer of clothing under the flying suit that covers all exposed skin. This second layer should be primarily made of natural fibre. To meet this requirement, cadets should report to the AEF wearing either:

(1) No 2 uniform with trousers (not skirts and tights). Where skirts and tights are worn cadets are to change into suitable natural fibre underwear that covers all exposed skin with long natural fibre socks that fully cover the ankles.

(2) No 3 Service Dress (CS95/PCS-MTP, often referred to as ‘combats’).

Note: No 3 Service dress is preferred.

But the No. 2 uniforms aren’t primarily natural fibre: they’re something like 65% polyester.

I’ve always wondered about that bit

What about the different versions of greens? Pretty sure that they aren’t 100% cotton or similar.

They’re not, but they vary. 67% polyester 33% cotton according to my Mk 2 Temperate shirt, but 70% cotton for trousers (warm weather) which are older.

Looks like they increased the synthetic content in more recent items

ETA: looks like the warm weather has the high cotton content so I’ll take that into account if we are lending them kit.

You can wear blues or MTP. Don’t worry about it.

10 AEF seems to be demanding we go in No2, or is this just my wing being daft when allocating spots

anyone else got experience with 10 AEF?

It’s your Wing.

I’ve dropped you a pm.

I questioned this about MTP wearing and was told it must be blues only and MTP were not allowed.

As people have said, this varies depending on the AEF. There’s no set national way of doing it.
