Reference the previous edict that came out telling Stns not to give us any MTP including gash kit from the bins, there is a rumor flying around that this has been rescinded.
Can anyone confirm if the original instruction has been withdrawn and/or provide evidence?
I’ve not heard anything, indeed a recent (within 7 days) update telling us that the MTP Barrack Dress shirt was forbidden and would be remaining that way came with a reminder that MTP must be sought elsewhere.
I have heard the “barrack shirt” is the “new” UBAC, but rather than the lack of pattern and tailoring on the torso now includes minimal additions…although i have heard that from the rumour mill so take it with a pinch of salt.
what incubus says is right, the RAF aren’t using it so we, the ACO, are to follow suit
Have to say this ‘new’ barrack shirt is no different to the ‘old’ barrack shirt that was trialled before MTP was brought in. It was ultimately discounted as the ‘new’ shirts were better. The barrack shirts in question are the same cut as the old CS95 shirts just in MTP material.
All I can draw from all this is it is the rumour mill working at its best.
Stores are still on lockdown with it. I was wondering the other day if there was a long term plan with it and the ACO due to the mismatch of MTP and CS95 going about.

Just the same as the old DPM CS95 shirt, but with MTP patterned material used instead.
One of our cadets has one.[/quote]
Is that the new barrack shirt or the old “tropical” MTP shirt? I’m not sure if there are any design differences between the two. I’ll compare if/when I get my mitts on the new one.
I saw one of the new new pattern shirts some months ago. There appeared to be a possible vent across the top of the back and the elbow pad pockets had been replaced with re-inforced patches which had ‘non-slip’ knobbles printed onto the fabric.

There were a few of these kicking about before PCS was the norm, but they appear to be the same. FS Moss @ ATF whilst I was at SSIC August last year mentioned that these were going to be coming “back” as the new barrack dress for both regulars/reservists and cadets.
I haven’t heard nor seen of any of these “knobbly” bits and vents etc that PN mentions.
Ah but how do you know if your cadet has the new issue? What does the label say and what is the NSN?
There are no plans to issue the barrack dress shirt to ACF or CCF (Army) cadets. The idea is they will be worn in camp by regulars (and probably reservists) but it will be some time before everyone actually has them. Only a few units have actually received any!
The barrack shirt is exactly the same as the standard PCS shirt except it omits the pockets on the sleeves. This makes it lighter and makes the sleeves easier to roll up and would be more comfortable in an office. It is not being adopted by the RAF or the RAF Regiment and as such will not be an authorised item in AP1358 or 58C. (Although MPGS will be wearing it on RAF Stations).

Definitely looks like the Type one stuff…I have 3 of these sitting on hangers at the back of my wardrobe along with trousers to match., exactly the same design as the old CS95 but in MTP…
I had heard from aWO friend of mine who has some input into the team that help design and develop the uniform and dress policy that indeed there is a new shirt planned which would have a vent built in across the back and under he arms…it was also proosed to be a little greener… have not seen one yet tho.
It must have been a prototype shirt that I saw then. I used to see all sorts of things turning in Colchester when the equipment and clothing design dept was down there near the Cavalry Barracks.
