So Andrew has stepped down entirely, including giving up his Dukedom, it mean Fergie reverts to Sarah Ferguson but his daughters retain their titles.

If only the King had a second son to take on the title traditionally associated with being the spare.
Ironically it’s also an unlucky title with an almost traditional curse of the title either going immediately extinct due to no male heirs or being absorbed into the crown.

I assume it’s now absorbed into the Crown until re-awarded?
Depends what the letters patent say doesn’t it? He may have relinquished it in that he’s stopped using it, but does that actually remove the title?

The whole thing is quite daft, tbh.
He still remains a prince, he still holds the title of Duke of York - he’s just not going to use the title. There still has been no real consequence of note.
Possibly an unpopular view, but as nothing has been proven wouldn’t it be entirely appropriate that there are no consequences of note? Purely from an ‘innocent until proven guilty’ point of view.
Of course the reputational damage caused by all the rumours about him would be dealt with on a negotiated basis. Unfortunately, it’s a no-win situation for the King as casting his own brother aside on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations isn’t a good look either.

The issue is beyond him having any direct guilt for wrongdoing.
Part of the problem is Andrew continued to be directly associated with JE after the latter’s 2008 conviction and for years beyond what he claimed.
