Moving to Bluesky app, escaping Twitter

Exactly. There’s no concept of a private business in China, or privacy for that matter. If I didn’t want the Chinese Communist Party to know all my business, I wouldn’t be doing or saying it around any devices compromised with TikTok.

You’re mad if you dont think that Apple, Samsung, Alphabet, Meta CCP and in part UK GOV etc. dont already know all your business

If you don’t want the CCP having any of your data, then best to avoid any technology really. It’s pretty much a fact of life, imo.

My only reason for not using twitter is just that I never have. And the cesspool it has become means I now never will. Similar with TikTok.

As far as I see it, we’ve really lost most of our actual privacy, and sort of need to accept that. We can’t just single out apps because their abuse of our privacy is somehow different. If TikTok is banned because it is such a high risk, then so should any device made in China, or with any Chinese software on it.

The uk government

  1. has a reasonably good reason for knowing some of our business as part of governance & data management

  2. probably insist it has it printed out & ends up losing it down the back of a filing cabinet.

I don’t disagree.

Those poor Chinese data interceptors on my phone must ‘Shirley’ be in therapy and on similar anti-depressants as me when going over anything they get from my phone  :no_mouth:

I haven’t had to do much blocking to get a more “middle of the road” spread across the content. In particular, some of the material coming from inside of Ukraine is much more up to date than most news feeds.

People moving from one echo chamber to another. Just wait until Elon buys out MSNBC in the USA

I only use Twitter for the Sqn Account.

And that really gets posted to this days. It’s mostly monitored for RAFAC stuff anyways.

Might get bluesky.

I’ve been on Bluesky for a few days now. These are my early notes:

  1. The discourse is so far much more civil
  2. Most of the post topics are generally better
  3. However, there’s still too much about American politics on there - even if you try to mute the topics.

The last point is important. I haven’t moved to Bluesky because I want the opposite views about Trump & The Republicans, but rather because I’d prefer not to hear about them at all.

If Bluesky fixes that last point, there’s a lot of potential there. If they fail to do so, I shouldn’t think I’ll remain on there for long.

Have any of the official channels moved to Bluesky such as RAFAC, RAF, MOD etc ?

Not as far as I’m aware. They tend to stick to the big ones and not adopt here today gone tomorrow platforms.

I just transfered over last night, I do see a lot of my big ones missing (actors, TV shows, NASA and related organisations, MOD) but most of my mutals and smaller people have moved over. It feels a lot better to me than my Twitter feed was but not sure if I’m actually going to stick with it or just keep it around set up in case.
